I think there is some confusion

Adirondack Rock & River and the Barkeater Inn are two distinct businesses 3 miles apart on the same road with different owners. It appears that these reviews are for the Barkeater Inn and not Adk Rock & River as the policies and descriptions do not fit Rock & River

Watch your credit cards

I made a reservation here for dates 8 weeks in advance and had to cancel the very next day. It took me several attempts just to get somebody on the phone to process a refund of the 50% deposit I had to make (minus a 10% "fee"). A month later, they still had not processed the refund. I called again and they say it is forthcoming and they apologize they have been too busy to respond to my request for refund earlier. We shall see.

This unique little getaway makes us want to quit our jobs, buy some horses and move to the country full time! If only it were that easy...

A true country inn

The Bark Eater Inn is the only place I will go with my two kids and my husband. In the hart of the ADK this is truly the sweetest, homiest little area to go to have a lovely get away. When ever my family and me go we love to go cantering on the trails they have made in the thick green woods with our favorite horses, (Black Jack, Jade, Thor, and Honey bee) or go fishing in the pond that is there. The Bark Eater is a fantastic place to Bring kids because when kids are out side and learn more about nature they start to have respect for the land they live on.
