We would stay here again!
After checking the Lake George web site, the AAA guidebook, and the reviews on Yahoo!, I selected the Mohican for our recent 5 day stay in Lake George. Wtih 2 boys (ages 3 and 8), having a separate but adjoining bed room for them, as well as an in-rrom fridge are important factors in deciding where we stay on vacation. The Mohican offered the widest selection of room types, at a reasonable rate for the busy summer season. We chose a 2 floor townhouse unit which was the perfect set up for us!
The unit was in great shape (furniture looked new) and traditional in style - think emerald green carpet, green / burgandy / beige stripe & florals curtains and bed spreads, and cherry woods. Beds were pretty comfortable - my only picky comment is the waterproof mattress pad made noise with every move you made! (but I understand the need for it!)
The AC units located on each floor were quiet and efficient; the fridge worked well (even the freezer); both indoor and outdoor pools were clean and well maintained; and there were some newer video games in the game room that my 8 yr old gave the thumbs-up to. The in door pool was helpful on the one day we got completely rained out. The playground is small but nice and there were even folks using the grills one night. The coin operated dryers worked well too.
The housekeeping staff did a great job both with the rooms and the grounds - everything was very clean and from what I saw fairly modern. The front desk staff had excellent recommendations for restaurants as well as a ton of menus to look over.
You can't beat the location either - just off of Rt 87, north of Great Escape but south of Lake George village, its a very quick drive to almost anything you could want to do in the immediate area with out getting stuck in the village traffic. Despite being centrally located, it was a quiet stay with mostly families and older couples without children as guests.
