Coachman Motor Lodge, Elmira

This was a nice, old apartment that turned into a hotel years ago. It was a little klitchy then, and now it is dilapidated with lots of repair work needed - ceiling peeling back in the bathroom, water spots on the ceiling, cigarette burns on both the upholstered chairs and the stove (yes, the stove!). A bit threadbare, it needs lots of tender loving care, and it hasn't gotten it in awhile, it seems.

I can't remember when I enjoyed such a moderately priced accommodation that didn't suffer from some drawback. This place had none. The room was extremely clean. Overstuffed leather recliner, comfortable sofa, flat panel TV, kitchenette and the list goes on. Would go out of my way to stay here if in the area again.

we encountered nothing to dislike. my wife had occasion to stay here several times in the past, and when we decidce to take our grandson to corning museum, we decided to stay here. the bedrooms, separate from the living area, the kitchenete, two double beds were perfect. we travel on a budget,and we don't expect all the fringes that we would get in a high priced resort, which are a waste of money as far as we are concerened. clean, comfortable, quiet. we will be doing a wine country vacation this summer, and plan to make the coachman our base.

Our visit was very different than the other reviewers here. Our room was filthy: dust and cobwebs everywhere. The room was smoke free, but apparently hadn't been for the first 35 years of operation. Cigarette burns in the carpet and the awful smell of decades of smoke damage coming from the paneling and furnishings. We were charged more per night than the maximum posted rate on the placard in the room. Significantly more. While there was soap in the bathroom, there was no shampoo, and when the room was serviced, we were left without enough towels for the three of us in our family to each have one. The air conditioning unit was loud. Leaf blower loud. Obviously we can't recommend this property to others.

I was in Elmira to train sports officials, but the venue was not available, so the LODGE allowed me to conduct classes in my room, which was spacious and comfortable enough to hold a 2 hr seminar. The manager was so courteous, and accomodating. She directed me to a buffet where the students and I enjoyed excellent food. I was very surprised and pleased about the spaciousness of my suite. I plan several business trips to Elmira, and for sure I recommend the Coachman to all my friends and associates.

Hi- In todays day and age when something sounds to good to be true........ However all the positive results are right on the Money. First I was checking in well after they closed and they said they would simply "leave the key in the door" and I could check in the following morning..."leave the key in the door"? Isnt that how an episode of Law and Order Starts? But they did and it worked out great. If you are looking for the Hilton-keep moving along-but if you are looking for a very clean, comfortable place to stay at a great price..Stop here. This is it. Each room has a small kitchen which was great for heating my meal,(stove) and saving even more money. From my first conversation with the owner, then his wife the following day you could tell they took pride in what they have here. As well they should. I am hoping my daughter chooses Elmira College because I feel I have a great place to stay. When she does her overnight next month my first call will be here. In 2009, when you find something that delivers on all they claim it is special. This place is. Let's start our own economic recovery plan and stay at a great family owned location.. You will be glad you did....

We stayed at the Coachman Motor Lodge because the Holiday Inn was full. We were pleasaantly surprised at how clean and nice the room was and the freindly service to boot. We would definitely stay here again when we visit in the area. We highly recommend this place.

This place was wonderful. The rooms were very clean and the best part was the separate bedroom. It's great for someone who is staying awhile because of the full kitchen area. I would definately stay again and recommend!

A great place to stay. We were there for one night and will be going back this year. The rooms are large and clean, backing onto a wooded area.

this is a wonderful home away from home that we stay in once every 3 months when we travel to elmira to see the kids. i don't think you can get a better deal anywhere!
