Breathtaking View
By MaryS, 10/05/09
We attended our daughter's Homecoming at Endicott College in Beverly. A heated pool (although is was covered) and jacuzzi (which my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed) overlook the ocean. The landscaping is gorgeous. We enjoyed our morning coffee and continental breakfast in adirondack chairs overlooking the harbor and Boston landscape. The breakfast is cold but with fresh fruit, breads, cereal and coffee, it is sufficient. There is always a cold drink and fresh fruit available. The innkeeper was knowledgeable although not overly friendly. Room 5 was small but comfortable for the 3 of us although if you are taller than 5'5", your feet will hang over the double bed. Actually, the bed was our only complaint. For $215.00 a night, I expected a comfortable bed! Swampscott is yet another quaint town in the North Shore with waterviews for miles, which is perfect for a long run or walk.

Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/30/09
We stayed here on while on a business trip and we absolutely loved it! The owners were very accomodating; the continental breakfast was fresh and good - with a nice variety; there are a number of very good restaurants within walking distance; the view from the backyard is wonderful - would definitely stay there again!

Very Upset
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/07/09
I live out of state and needed a place to stay for my girlfriend's wedding. When I called to make a reservation, the staff was extremely rude on the phone and unaccommodating; they left me no choice but to cancel the room. Hence, I am still looking for a place to stay.

quaint, lovely stay

The owners were very friendly and so was their doggie! Our room had a wonderful view and the room was clean and cozy. I also enjoyed the jacuzzi. An easy walk to the beach as well.

A hidden gem!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/12/07
Though on the main street of Swampscott, Cap'n Jack's is a hidden gem! We stayed in the main house on the second floor in a room overlooking the bay. The view of the harbor and downtown Boston was spectacular. Gardens and lawns around the inn are well manicured and beautiful. Though we did not make use of the swimming pool or the hot tub, the location of both afforded a great views of the same vistas as from our room. Instead, we spent quite a bit of time sitting on the patio enjoying the fresh sea breeze. Service and housekeeping was very good. Though the rooms were older, they were well appointed and extremely comfortable. In the morning a modest continental breakfast was offered in the lobby. There was parking for our rental car which we use to get to the Wonerland "T" stop for our daily excursions into Boston. We enjoyed the time so much that we plan to make this our regular place to stay while in metropolitan Boston.

A Gem on the Ocean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/06
Cap'n Jack's Waterfront Inn in Swampscott is a gem. Well-appointed rooms and ocean views as well as a courteous staff and all at a reasonable price make this an exceptional place for one to stay if you have business in Boston or relaxation on the historic North Shore.
