Horrible awoke at 5 am saturday am!!!
By ,
Bad food service and especially management!! Did not get discount for being woken up at 5 am by river construction right in front of hotel on sat morning!! Ruined our whole trip.Staff rude and not accommodating. The free breakfast was so ruined by construction noise. Don't waste your precious time or money!!!

Setting lovely but lunch was pathetic
By ,
Lunch was such a disappointment...I had the Cuban Pork sandwich--so poorly put together--the tomatoe center hard stem core was not cut out, the peppers, lettuce was a cumbersome iceberg wedge, cheese (I think) was just plopped on the pork which was not even placed properly on the bun. The ice cream stand down the street takes more care. And, it was not crowded so there could have been more attention to the food presentation,,,the guacomole was starting to turn brown on edges...I never write reviews but was so disappointed...certainly was not worth the $11 fare.

Loved It!
By ,
We had a wonderful dinner on a Sunday evening, July 18, sitting outside by the river. The food was delicious! We had the lobster and salmon as our main courses. Service was wonderful and the waitress, Amy, was very kind and helpful. Probally the best food and waitress we have had in a long time! Can't wait to go back.

AUnforgettable Historic Hotel
By ,
From the moment we arrived the Black Bass Hotel reminded us why we love historic hotels and distinctive dining. The Hotel had been a favorite getaway for years and its renovation was a lovely surprise. From the Pub and cocktails by the fire to dinner and breakfast the following morning, we were sure it was going to be a vacation spot again this year. Unforgettable!

always a joy...
By ,
I have been there on multiple occasions - lunch, casual dinner in the Tavern Room and more formal dinners in the main dining area. The renovations are beautifully done and only serve to enhance the experience. The food is always terrific and the staff nothing short of courteous and professional. I recommend the Black Bass to all my friends - between the atmosphere, the food and the service, it is always a joy to gather there with friends.

I will never go back
By ,
The rooms (after the recent remodel) were nicely done. The service was horrible in every possible way. The restaurant has a lovely view and the tavern is cozy but the food is OK at best.

Nasty front desk
By ,
My husband & I were looking forward to visiting the newly renovated restaurant having been long time customers. We did not make reservations so went very early for dinner at 5. The main dining room was empty yet the woman at the front desk told us rudely that they were fully booked. She did not even recommend the Tavern as an alternate or the downstairs outdoor area. We left. However, the smart, young parking attendant asked the manager if we couldn't at least sit on the deck and he said ok. We should have left! Oour experience was lousy food, lousy service in addition to the extremely rude greeting and way over priced for what it was to say nothing of the invasion of black flies on the terrace that simple fans could have prevented. The only bright spot was the parking attendant. I hope it does improve as it is a beautiful spot

Sunday Brunch Disappointment
By ,
The building has been nicely renovated though the historical charm of the main dining room is completely gone. If not for the beautiful view of the Delaware, you may feel as though you are in any modern restaurant. The noise level in the dining room is very loud - it became impossible to carry on a conversation with our friends. The traditional Sunday brunch buffet has been replaced by a small menu with limited options. The fruit crepe was dry and tasteless. The chateaubriand and crab cake were okay. The dessert table was overly sweet and unremarkable with some guests loitering about picking off the dessert platters as if at a house party. We had a dirty coffee cup and water glass (dust and bugs). Service staff were plentiful though seemed unsure of themselves. The young woman serving bread left her fingerprint in our butter dish. Overall, an unimpressive visit compared to my memories of the old Black Bass Sunday brunch experience. Hopefully things will improve.

We can not wait to get back there. Everything about it was top notch. The rooms, the service and the food. I would highly recommend this magnificent property.

Jewel of the Delaware
Truly the most beautiful restaurant in all of Buck County, the new Black Bass Hotel has gone above and beyond my expectations. The already gorgeous building has had an incredible renovation. They have managed to retain its old charm but now it is so much more sophisticated and elegant. It truly has a new life. The level of professionalism from the staff was also outstanding. In response to two of the previous posts, I could not disagree more! From my own experiences, as well as the experiences from everyone I know, it has been nothing short of outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and made my experience everything I was expecting plus so much more. The general manager, Grant, was also fantastic! He greeted us at our table during our meal (even though they were busy!!!) and gave us the history place and made sure everything was how we were expecting it. Grant along with the rest of the staff made us feel like cherished and much appreciated customers! The food was also out of this world. The chefs cooking was exquisite and completely worth every penny I paid for it! I know for sure that I will be back here many more times, and from everyone I have talked to, I know they will too! Highly recommended 100 times over!
