CREDIT CARD GIVEN AWAY, DON'T START A TAB AT AZTEC
By Ashley, 8/1/12
I recently visited the Jersey Shore (July 26-29, 2012) for a weekend bachelorette celebration. We made plans to visit our hotels bar (The Aztec Resort) that Saturday evening. At which time I started a bar tab, just as you do anywhere and entrusted my credit card to the bartender (Danielle/Kimmy, both were working). We took seats at the bar but only stayed for about an hour as it was not busy at all. Upon asking for my tab I was informed that two gentlemen walked up to the other end of the bar, used my last name, order a couple of rounds of drinks and then closed my tab. The bartender then informed me she gave them MY CREDIT CARD! Not once did she apologize or see how she had done anything wrong. Her only excuse “they knew your last name, how was I supposed to know?” I asked to speak to the manager, Steve who did not have any more sympathy then Danielle/Kimmy and simply said “It’s done and over with, there isn’t anything I can do about it now” I had to ASK HIM for an apology! I could not be more disgusted with the entire establishment and the people working there. BEWARE of bringing ANY business to the Aztec; you may end up paying a lot more than you think. As for the hotel stay; we booked a VIP room which basically means you have a view of the boardwalk but no personal use of a balcony. It rained for a majority of the day Saturday and surprisingly began raining in our room all over the TV, chairs, and down the windows. The hotel is run down and dirty, our “maid service” was provided by us finding a maid and asking for toiletries. Not once was the room maintained by a maid. I will NEVER return to this “resort” or promote any business their way.

TERRIBLE
By L & G, 11/25/11
Worst Ever TERRIBLE! I read the reviews but also looked at the site which stated it was one of the top places to stay. So, I thought it would have at least been ok for 2 or 3 days. Well. I was completely WRONG! The place was just as dirty inside as it was outside. I was scared the elevator was going to stop running while I was in it. The place was so dirty I was afraid to touch the sink and wasn't sure if I touched the beds if the bed bugs would jump on me right then and there! We opened the door to the room and was overwhelmed by the smell and odors AND FLIES THAT FLEW IN OUR FACE. Shades broken and the bed was horiffic and lumpy. I was afraid to sit on it! The man who i made the reservation with was very nice but he was not around when we got there. It was a bitchy woman with bleached blond hair. My husband and child sat on the bed because the rest of the furniture was so stained it seems like the closest thing to safety. It sounded like a prison (no I really wouldn't know but only on TV shows) because the doors of the other rooms outside were so easily hear shutting and we heard people talking next to us. I went down to the so called office to complain and the woman just looked at me so told her we were onyl staying 1 night instead of 3. I didn't even want to spend another second in there! After about 2 hours of looking around we decided to leave, couldn't even stand staying 1 more second in that Dirty discusting place! They would nto give us our deposit back and were nasty when I said we were leaving. Take my word, find another place! On 11/24/11, I had spoken to hotel manager and had my issue resolved and was also refunded my money. I hope as the new manager proceeds with updating and cleaning this property for others that they are successful and I am happy we were able to resolve this issue. Thanks

Security Guards are DANGEROUS !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/6/11
Security Guards are DANGEROUS !!! my review is not for the hotel but rather for the nightclub. I was in the nightclub Saturday Sept. 4th when I witnessed one of the security guards (tall, dark as in he tans every day and built like a gorilla) head lock and beat up a guy for NO reason till he was unconscious. The security guard head locked the guys so tightly the guy passed out while being dragged outside the club, right by the entrance he drops the guy and begins to repeatedly quick him ( again the guys was unconscious) picks him up again and continuous to drag him out the club. The guys face was shattered, there was blood everywhere and the other two security guards that saw everything didn't bother to intervene, they just let this psychopathic "security guard" beat up an unconscious person. People be very careful if you run into this particular security guard and you will because he's back at work in Aztec Nightclub. This guys is a ticking bomb ready to treat anyone as a punching bag while using the excuse that he is a security. The owners of this place should also take into consideration the SAFETY of the club goers. Worst experience ever !!!!

No way would I ever........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/11
............stay here!!! Disgusting, smelled like a skunk that crawled out of an ass of another skunk; as we were checking in saw a mouse crawl under a door of a guest room & immediately went to the front desk & requested our deposit back!!! We heard horror stories from everybody we talked too, even people, including the police/code enforcement, at the municipal building! Do not, I repeat do not be fooled by the price or promises--to say it's a dump is an understatement; it's like a trailer park in an upscale neighborhood!!!

pricey but ok...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/10
This motel was perfect for what we were looking for, even though it was like $200 per night. It was oceanfront, on the boardwalk and everything was literally right around the corner. You only had to walk one block to find anything. I would agree the place is not in the best of shape and desperately needed a new paint job. My room was always clean, yes, the tiles on the bathroom floor needed replacing and were gross in the corners. The water was always HOT and the AC and Fridge worked excellent. The pool was good, nice and deep, about 10 feet. I've stayed in cheaper, much nicer motels but this was too convienient to complain about. If you want nicer accomodations, stay off the boardwalk, go across the street and walk your butt to all the fun stuff. I would stay again, maybe not in full season, so as to save a little money!!

WORST EVER
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/10
i guess i should of read tje reviews first. i stayed in this motel about 10 years ago and it was the best. the staff was professional, the rooms were clean and it was a nice family place. well if your looking for any of these qualities now your looking in the wrong place. we went into the room and the floor was filled with sand and dirt??? we just got there. the shades were broken window were dirty and the pubic hair on the tub was nasty. had to go to the store for cleaning supplies, not what i wanted to do on vacation. the smell of weed coming under the door was terrible. we complained, so the women gave us towels to put under the door to stop the smell from coming in. i never heard of this before. when i asked for the owners name i was told they dont give that info out speak to tim. well tim is as useless as tits on a bull and he is the manager.if anyopne knows how to reach the owner, please let me know.i dont know how that place gets booked so fast unless your used to living in filth. this will be my last time there.

Very unprofessional \"GM\"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/10
I myself never stayed and never will after my experience with Tim who said he was the general manager as well as the front desk manager. We had a family emergency arise so my son had to cancel his reservation 2 days before his trip. Being that it was a medical emergency I felt they could have waived the $50.00 cancellation fee however after speaking with Tim he would not waive the fee or give me the Owner's contact information. If anyone has the owners name or phone number please give it to me. I did call Tim several times but he was still unprofessional. At this point it's not even about the money it's more about the fact that I think the owner should know who he has on the front lines.

Great Location, but that's about it
By RatedR91, 8/9/10
The location could not have been any better, right on the boardwalk and 20 feet from the beach -- but that was it. The room was small and not quite what we thought we were getting. It read "2 double beds" but was instead 2 twin beds pushed together with a pullout couch. The mattress' were about 20 years old and it was very uncomfortable to sleep on, almost like you were falling into the middle of it, it was so sunken in. It was completely beat up. The "comforter" was also frayed and in poor condition. Because the room description was a bit deceiving it turned out that our friends who were sharing a room with us were left with only the pullout, which was in even worse shape, almost completely sunken in the middle. The bathroom did not contain a sink, only a shower and toilet and we noticed they didn't do a very good job of cleaning it. There was one mirror in the room, and 2 small lamps that were fixed to the walls. There was a long black hair left on one of the towels and there was some grime/buildup clearly visible behind the toilet. There was a hole in the wall next to the telephone jack and the paint on the walls had some visible stains on it. The room and balcony was to be considered "no smoking" but outside our room on the balcony was a large plastic solo sup with about 200 soaking wet cigarette butts in it. All of us considered it to be the worst hotel room we have ever stayed in, considering the price was about $440 for the weekend. The main upside was the location, you walk outside and your right on the boardwalk. Also, they have an ice machine by the front desk and it's free, so we were able to keep our cooler stocked. They didn't have any more beach tags left when we inquired, so they simple went into the register and handed me 10 bucks, which was nice. Overall, it was a fun experience. You can bring your cooler down by the pool, they don't have a problem with that. I would only recommend the hotel to anyone else if they would prefer being on the boardwalk/close to the beach, but I would compare prices though, as I'm sure you can't find a hotel room anywhere in any poorer condition. Everything except for the room itself was great.

It's Finally Over for us..
By robert, 7/25/10
IWe've been staying at the Aztec for over 25 years, every year seemed to get alittle sleazier than the last. My kids gave up on it a few years back. My wife and I kept going because of the closeness to the boardwalk because my wife has physical disabilities. It just isn't worth it anymore the hot water get's warm at most and that takes a long time , the shower is a little more than a trickle, the tub filled to about 4 inches due to a slow drain. and when the people upstairs took a shower it was like rain in my bathroom . I called the front desk and they sent someone and they looked at it and said we have to check upstairs.the next day the same thing happened. Even the front door took a lot of effort to open or close, my wife couldn't open it at all.I had to leave the door ajar when I left the room just in case she had to get out,We thought with the new management a few years back that it would get better but we were wrong about that.. It appears to be total neglect..They don't even paint behind the toilet tank , the bathroom tiles don't match. When they do a repair they use any color that they have on hand. I'm sorry but I cant find anything nice to say about it,,would not recommend

It's alllll good in Dirty Jersey
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/12/09
Hey, It's Seaside Heights, AKA Sleese-Side Heights in Dirty Jersey, your expectations should not be too high. The rooms were a bit run down, but clean. The location is great. Close to cheap and fun bars, boardwalk games and rides. Its all about who you go down with to have a good time. Just don't loose your hotel key, they will charge you $50 for a new one. Explore your white trash side and have some fun!
