not much respect
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/09
We have stayed here about once a year for the past couple of years, and are usually quite satisfied. First, I want to praise the wonderful girls who clean the rooms and the men who work very hard to keep the grounds clean. Our first night here a few days ago was very upsetting as someone ran into our car, and therefore we had a discussion with the police, and the night went downhill from there, incidently this happened in the inn's parking lot. People were extremely unruly and noisy the rest of the night, therefor causing us a sleepness night. We felt there could have been some kind of statement from the inn managers, but none was offered, which leads me to believe they just wanted to sweep the incident under the rug. We were quite turned off from their actions regarding us and the people who were involved in the accident. I wonder what kind of misdemeanor you must do in order to get evicted from the inn!!!

No pets please!.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/09
I thought that being close to the ocean would help my allergies. Turns out, that all of the rooms allow pets in them on the off season. I wish that they could reserve a room or two as NO PETS ALLOWED!

Looking forward to returning!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/08
Had a small ceremony a few blocks away and the staff at the Engleside was very accomodating with their Banquet room. The staff was EXTREMELY pleasant and accomodating!! The room was a dream!! Immaculate and larger than I anticipated!! I wish I could stay here every weekend!!

Made us drive over before reservation!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/07
This motel is all right, and we have stayed a few times, but, unbelievably, last time, like all their guests, they required that we drive in or pay for a public fax service and SIGN our credit card payment BEFORE we stayed! The owner is concerned that he won't be able to charge guests who don't make it, but sorry--some things, even nowadays and with small-market mom and pop businesses are about the CUSTOMER'S convenience, not the businesses'. This kind of "who cares if we inconvenience the customer" attitude is all too prevelant lately and should be answered by people voting with their feet--by staying away.

Never going back
By Margaret, 10/08/07
I can not even give this restaurant a star. I was highly disappointed. We arrived at the site at 130pm and only wanted to order To-go. We asked a server who would take our order and was told that she would be able to or the bartender. The tone of her voice wa that she was entirely too busy so I waited at the bar for recognition. I waited for 20 minutes and no one even acknowledged that I was in need of something. Finally my order was taken. I order three fried items which took 45 minutes to get. Instead of being apologetic the server with a major attitude problem stated that it was not up to her how fast the food comes out. I understand the restuarant business well being a waitress and a bartender for 10 years. Not only did I have to wait forever for food that made me ill but have the person representing the business be highly unprofessional. I would NEVER go there again.

Office staff/owner could be more friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/07
Very expensive but great location and rooms are clean and large. We spend many summers at the Engleside but last year our reservation was changed and we lost a night because we did not realize this. We also had to pay for one beach tag although never thought we received all 3 tags at the beginning. We explained our circumstances and our dissatisfaction but this did not matter to the owner.

33 Years and Going Strong!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/06
We have stayed at the Engleside for 33 years now, and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else at LBI! Everything is great - the staff, Room 209 where we always stay, walking distance to the stores, and looking out over the balcony to the ocean and The Sand Bar! Great restaurant, too! In fact, the restaurant at the Engleside is one of the best at LBI. Also, we love the Sand Bar for drinks and clam strips. Oh, those clam strips!! Watch out! They are habit forming

Great location
By WebTsarina, 06/29/06
Surprisingly, but on the Long Beach Island the location is everything. Eagleside without a doubt is the best location you can think of. Not only it’s right on the beach, but it’s only 2 blocks from Pearl Street Market – breakfast heaven. This is that good side of the island with that classy NY crowd. Reservation is a must and better done long time ahead, especially for 4th of July weekend.

We look forward to it all year long
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/06
Every September, my wife and I spens a week at the Engleside Inn. The Summer rush and crowds are over, the weather is still excellent, and the surf is FANTASTIC. Even hurricaines the last few years have done nothing to dampen our enthusiasm to spending our week on LBI. Engleside Inn staff have been very courteous for the four years we've been coming; we stay in the same room every year, sort of a tradition. We can't wait to get back!
