Great Stay
By tiffanyM, 6/14/08
My two friends and I had a marvelous stay at the Bernerhof Inn. At the time we were there, the owners were out of town on vacation and there was one gal working the front desk and the kitchen. She managed without a hitch. Since we were there in the "off" season, we were three of five people staying there at the time. It was neat, kind of spooky and fun. We were served a delicious breakfast in the dining room and treated like queens. I'd recommend a stay here to anyone.

Could be a great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/08
This place could be really fantastic, but I agree with the previous reviewers that the service is not up to par for the money. The building is beautiful but might be better maintained, and the food is amazing but the dining room service is horrible. The owners are very nice people, but in my opinion they do not know how to run an inn/restaurant. They appear to not have enough waitstaff in the dining room (one of the owners waited on us both times we ate dinner here, and her service was terribly slow). I think the weekend we stayed, there were a total of two CD's played over the sound system repeatedly, and given the long wait for dinner, this got old really fast. It's that kind of lack of attention to detail that really hurts this place. We'll go back to chat with the bartender (who we loved) and eat the food, some night when we're not in a hurry. I don't think we'll stay here again, especially given that our room was about 100 degrees even with the window open in the winter.

Over priced, poorly staffed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/07
At first glance you may actually feel like you are getting your money's worth - lots of nice flowers out front - cute porch - then you are greeted by poorly trained staff - even teenagers just hanging around. The 48 hour last minute special is overpriced for what you get - the pool was dirty (really dirty - along with baby's in diapers swimming in it) - our jacuzzi didn't work until maintenance did the routine "magic" trick on it, we didn't even bother using it the second night we were there -this was suppose to be one of the perks of the package, that is, an upgrade to a "deluxe room with jacuzzi" - the shower leaked - drip, drip, drip - didn't bother telling the staff because their response to questions was often "I don't know" - not "I'll look into it for you" - don't be surprised when you get your voucher for your meal that you can order anything off the menu BUT if you want the lamb or veal you have to pay extra - WHAT??!! You get to SPLIT an appertizer (ok maybe I get that) and split a dessert (that's ridiculous). The food was good. They automatically include their 20% gratuity to your bill which is incredibly presumptuous - I suppose this allows the staff to carry on with their poorly trained ways. Visually our room was cute - but it stopped there. There were a few people on the staff that were nice -like the bartender - I would NEVER go back there again - and they still owe us money for overcharging us for our room - I told them I was tired of calling regarding this - they told me they were tired of hearing from me!!! This place could be nice - too bad it's so poorly run. It is nicely located to lots of neat things in the area but so are a ton of other places to stay - seems they better ship up or I bet they'll get weeded out!

stay at the Covered Bridge House B&B 1/4 mile down the road
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/05
We would not stay at the Bernerhof Inn again. Although it is in a great area, we found it overpriced and not especially nice. We found a great place 1/4 mile down the road, the Covered Bridge House B&B (Glen, NH), that was at least $50 per night cheaper, and a lot nicer.
