Some People need to get a grip!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/01/10
I was just at the resort from 1/19 to 1/31 I had the best time wit hmy freinds. We are planning our next trip for the same time next year. No one said it was a 5 star resort but if that is what you want than you will pay up to $300. a night good luck to you. Or room was great yes a bit chilly but with the wind chill that weekend it was like - 15 below zero so I can live with that. When we told them we were really cold we received a heater for our room. the pub was awesome we had a blast! Great people felt like a family party. Karaoke was great. For the person who said there was no place to have dinner they must have been blind. I you want to be comfortable meet great people and have a blast go to the Shalimar! it was worth the trip and can not wait to go back!

We are already planning our next trip!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/09
We loved the atmosphere.Everyone was very friendly. The food, drinks and D.J.(Dorien Jay) were awesome. The pool, spa, and sauna was very relaxing. The hotel package was very affordable, especially in these hard times. We enjoyed shopping nearby at the outlets especially with a free $20 gift card and visiting nearby attractions. We meet new friends and can't wait to go back and see everyone . Thanks for a wonderful time !!!! Helene & Norman Hampstead N.H.

Spiders and webs
By tree, 04/20/09
I will say that it is a good place and has a lot to offer for short money. But to go out on the front deck is taking a chance that you will never make it back in. The hundreds, and I am not exaggerating, spiders are all over the place. Kill the spiders and it is a decent place.

Terrible place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/12/09
It was one of our worst experiences in North America! It is low, very low quality place, drafts are throughout the hotel and inside the rooms because doors are very old.

Great Ski Holiday
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/09
I came to ski and found the Shalimar on the Gunstock website. What a surprise to get an awesome, huge room with a King size bed, balcony and free wireless for $79.00 a night. Wow, I'll be back for sure. They also sell ski tickets too. Great to get free breakfast before skiing and nice to have the jacuzzi for after skiing.

We Loved It!
By Claudia, 03/08/09
I don't usually write reviews but I read some of the bad ones and wondered if they were on drugs or something. It's not the Ritz or the Plaza. It's a family owned resort. Something you don't see much anymore. There shoud be more like it and I cna't wait to come back with my family. I loved it. I was here on business and ended up staying an extra night because of a snow storm. The food is great and the bartender super friendly. It was nice to have the pool and gym in the morning which was very clean by the way. The rooms are Lovely. I had a room with a balcony and the room was huge and beautifully appointed. It looks like they have just renovated the whole place. The desk told me the pool was new too. Not sure about the negative people but I'll be back again and again! Great Family Fun- Very Clean- Great Pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/09
We loved the Shalimar Resort- We came for Mass. February vacation with our kids. We bought discount Gunstock ski tickets at the desk, had a fabulous meal and our kids sang karaoke in the pub. The kids loved the large game room. The rooms are BEAUTIFUL, VERY CLEAN and completely renovated. We rented online and the rates are cheaper. A great value. We will absolutely come back again!

Think Twice, Nothing Changed
By Ken, 10/26/08
This past summer we had a very bad experience with the $150 a night room. It was very dirty and we felt gross the whole time there. Well we got a letter from the owner Mary and she invited us back for another stay on the house and we thank her for that. When we arrived that afternoon we were greeted very nicely and were told that the room that they had for us was just renovated and was all set to go. Well I am not sure if they think we were from the sticks or just fell off of the turnip truck but if we hadn't of driven so far we would have left as soon as we arrived. This room was also very dirty in looks, the ceiling was all water stained and the paint was falling off, the pillows had stains all over them along with the pillow cases. The only thing that was changed was the bathroom had new paint on the walls. Taking a shower was the worst. The shower head was ready to fall off and rinsing you're hair took forever with the water saver head. I am sure that this resort was a big hit in it's hay day. This resort definitly has so much potential but you have to at least spend something for the up-keep and maybe Mary thinks that she is and it is the staff that is running this place into the ground but whatever it is, we will look else where when we spend time at the lake. would never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/08
didn't like much about this place the pool had more patches than i don't know what, they advertise a restaraunt and there is none, the beds are like sleeping on a piece of slate, the place is dirty looking and infested with spiders the only thing i liked about it was leaving the hotel !!!

Wouldn't choose Shalimar for next visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/08
For the price paid (150.00 a night) was too steep for the quality of the rooms. The room and bathroom did not have a clean look to it. The bed was hard as a rock. The only positive reason to stay there would be if you had a boat it is convenient across the street to put it in the lake. I would highly recommend checking into some other hotels before choosing the Shalimar.
