Friendly and Patient
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/11
I was marooned in Presque Isle while waiting for repairs on my motorcycle, and the staff at Budget Traveler were super nice. They charged my electronic devices for me on their computer, had an excellent and generous continental breakfast, and in general put up with having me constantly around with very good cheer. While the facilities were about average, the staff were so helpful it made an unhappy stay as happy as it could be.

Worst hotel experience we've ever had
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/11
Don't make the same mistake we did. There are several much nicer places in the PI Caribou area for only a few dollars more per night. If you are used to places like motel 6 and super 8 and think that level of cleanliness/security/service is acceptable but not stellar, this place is not for you. If you have stayed happily at a place that advertised hourly rates on their sign, maybe this place is for you. We made a reservation a month in advance. They messed it up and reserved a smoking room instead of non smoking. They moved us to a room that didn't have a fridge (we needed the fridge to keep pumped breast milk cold). The door retainer was loose and hit me in the head when I opened the door. Then they moved us to a room with a broken dead bolt, and fresh blood on the "clean" towels. We had to wait for the night manager to come on duty because the woman at the desk would do nothing for us. While we waited, we discovered that the pool shown on the website doesn't exist and the WI-FI only works in the smoke hazed reception area. The night manager said 1.) a non smoking room is one which hasn't been smoked in in days, and we were being too picky. 2.) He could get us into the room we reserved for 2 days, but then we would have to move again to a smoking room for the 3rd and 4th night. We declined and went to another hotel. They refused to withdraw the room charge from my credit card. When I called to check, the charge actually was withdrawn, and replaced by a charge for even more money than I signed for. Dispute still in progress. There is more, but I'm done typing. I have had lots of wonderful, and many not so wonderful experiences at hotels and motels over the years. This is the first time I've been motivated to write a review.

Really!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/10
It would have been good to know whether there was a different rate for different rooms. We were only asked if we had a reservation...no they are not on the web nor are their rates posted on Expedia so how were we to make a reservation? .In this day and age this should be available. There was no screen on our room window and when we pulled the curtain back the window was filthy!!!! We needed fresh air to get the stale smell from the room. Breakfast was not "healthy" and not a lot of choice. The light went off when we were eating and we were told it "needed fixing". Lots of fixing needed throughout the building for sure as it was dark and dingy. We checked carefully for bedbugs but did not see evidence of them. The pillows were very smelly and needed to be chucked. We paid more than what this room was worth..no it isn't the Hilton but it needs to be improved.

Horrible stay....
By Liane, 9/18/10
We checked in for 5 days and 4 nights to ATV in the area. We have stayed here many times over the past 10 years but this was the worst stay of all. Banner on motel boasts Healthy Breakfast....one of the four mornings we did find some wheat bread and yogurt but other than that we had an option of sugar coated cereal or white toast. Coffee machine was broken one morning, had NO HOT WATER on three of the four mornings. Several people in our party did not have their rooms made up or get clean towels....guess you don't need towels with no hot water for showers! Free Wi-Fi was pretty sketchy most evenings and our TV cable was held together with black electrical tape which you had to wiggle to tune in a channel. Overall it was a huge disappointment; no value for the hassles we had to endure. Did the staff care? You can't even really have to ask.....they forgot to order the donuts... Definately do not recommend to friends or enemies. Such a horrible stay.

Definetly will stay again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/10
I loved staying there, and will book it everytime we go there. The receptionist when we arrived made sure we were happy with the room given, and when we walked into the room we both commented on how clean it was, and was fresh. The ladies doing the cleaning did an excellent job and were so friendly, always making sure everything in the room was okay, and it was. When we came back from shopping, they did another beautiful job, and loved the fact I didn't have to bring pillows from home which I usually have to do, they had sufficient here. We had a tv, fridge, and microwave.. loved that too. The breakfast included in the morning was excellent and sufficient, and best of all.. they were pet friendly, I will be staying there even when I go to Bangor for the day.. I'll come back here to sleep before heading home. They made for a great weekend, thanks.

Not what it used to be
By NYSE_Latte, 5/12/09
This once was a new motel with the lowest price in town--by far. For the past couple of years, they advertise single rooms at a fair--but not great-- price ($59.99--not the $55 presently shown on this site). You arrive and they tell you they are all sold out at that rate and you have to pay an extra $20 for a double. The rooms are tired. These are no longer bargain rates and the help could care less that one rate is advertised, but not available.

Nice room, but smokey!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/07
I had requested a non-smoking room and they placed us in a non-smoking room right in the middle of the smoking section. That didn't make much sense. We requested a move and they moved us to the far end of the non-smoking section. The room was nice, clean, but a bit run down and smelled a little stale. Could not smell smoke in the room, but the hallways were very smokey. The desk clerk who moved us was very nice. Would likely not stay there again.

Great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/7/06
Conveniently located - very friendly and efficient staff. Very inexpensive prices. Would gladly stay there again on another visit. We had to unexpectedly increase the length of our stay there, and they very easily made accommodations available for two extra nights' stay. One personal and convenient touch is that they stock personal care products (i.e. shampoos, toothpastes, combs, etc.) in case they are needed.
