Try staying somewhere else

We stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and had a good (average) experience. This time was a different story. The room was the best they had available, for $199. The first thing I noticed was the dirty window, so you could not enjoy the view (I also wished they'd told me the room is on the 1st floor). I opened the balcony door and the balcony and the plastic furniture were covered with grass clippings and dirt (apparently from all the grass cutting), you could not step out witout bringing the dirt back into the room. The room was fine but the bathroom had a dirty soap dish, the Kleenex box had its last sheet, the fan was extreemly LOUD (it switches on automatically when you switch on the light) and the towels were not of the best quality. The bathroom needed some renovations for the price they charge. The corridor smelled with a deodorizer as if they were trying to mask some smell. I stayed in much better rooms for $99. Basically, my complain is that the room did not reflect the price. The view was the only thing going for this room but being from Boston the ocean view did not make up for the room itself. Luckily I need to stay one day only. On the plus side, the grounds were nicely maintained and the location was good, very close to downtown Bar Harbor.
Initially I wanted to book a better place but the hotels' web sites showed no vacancy. I should had called them directly since when we arrived in Bar Harbor I saw that there was vacancy at those places.
