Thulhagiri Island Resort, Male

Fantastic island . 3 couples 40 plus from England spent a week in this beautiful resort . We all stayed in the Beach Bungalows directly on the sand only a few meters from the water . The bungalows were spacious and cleaned a few times daily . Staff were extremely friendly, helpful thought the resort. The food was excellent and the cocktails were the best we have ever tried .The snorkelling was good and we seen a variety of fish . All in all we would definately recommend this resort and go back again. Resort itself deserves more than 3 star . thanks for the team of Admaldives who helped us to book the island. Your rates are very good and the staff from your team who met us is excellent

Location is excellent and bungalows are very nice. Most of all,the service was the best.First day,we had own waiter,named Arif.He was so nice and helpfull.We will definitely come back someday!

Accidentally found this true paradise on earth. Have only ben to one other (higher rated ) resort in the Maldives. That place doesn't come close to how wonderful Thulhagiri is. I would never waste time visiting any other. I knowit would come a poor second. I feel the very top class resorts are too formal and intimidating. Thulhagiri has the perfect balance. Yes, it is small, but you come to the Maldives for R&R not action. There are plenty of water based activities and you can visit other islands or Male if you feel stir crazy. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The only con is that after Thulhagiri, everywhere else falls a bit flat! But shhh, don't tell everyone!!

If you want to spend your happiest time of your life with your lover than it is one of the best place for it. We liked the very intimate of the place. We were almost alone in the small island anywhere we went. The water bungalow supplied an amazing spot to pass through huge feelings. You can look at the ocean from your bed or step in from your balcony, etc.

What a beautiful place for a honeymoon! This island is truly beautiful and the clear water is breathtaking! My husband and I had an overwater bungalow which had a fantastic deck with stairs leading into the inviting water. We also went all inclusive which we recommend. This includes all meals, snacks and all your water, soft drinks, beer and 15 selected cocktails are included in the price. Most staff were friendly and helpful and we got to know a few of them within a couple of days. A great resort to go to if you love food and if you love to kick back,relax and take in the scenery! Thulhagiri avoids all the hype of day spas and is only a small resort which we found charming! Can not wait to go back!

We ordered Full Board, but somehow, Full Board doesn't come with drinks. Not even plain water. There's no drinking water in the room as well. So for the whole stay, you have to purchase their drinks (mineral water at USD$3 and Coke 330ml at USD$2). There's no Do-Not-Disturb sign at our water bungalow. So you literally can have service staff opening the door with their master key if you don't respond to their knockings fast enough. The service is extremely rigid, with multiple inhouse rules that serve no purpose other than to irk the guest. No leeways, no bargaining, and no concession for whatever purpose.

IT,S A PLACE WHERE I WOULD LIKE TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE. I THINK THERE ARE NO WORDS THAT CAN DESCRIBE THE FEELING OF BE IN THULHAGIRI.

Am really glad i chose to stay in this resort despite it not being my 1st choice. The water bungalows were fantastic, though i didn't manage to get my choice bungalow (which was the last bungalow at the end), i still had a great view of the waters. Fishes were abundant & i had small crabs at the steps to the water. Private sundeck was perfect for sun-bathing. We had sufficient privacy, though the bungalows were not as far apart as we had hoped it to be. Room's great, with a romantic 4-pole king-sized bed... Food was fab, though the breakfast was rather disappointing, anyhow, the resort made it up with the wonderful lunches & dinners. Resort's very close to nature & u can walk barefooted anywhere in the resort. Staff were pretty friendly & helpful, though service can be improved upon. On the whole, i'll certainly recommend friends to stay at this resort. & the pristine clear white beaches of the Maldives will certainly not disappt!

The island in itself is one of those picture postcard places, but beware it is very SMALL, so anything more than 3 or 4 days stay could be enough to avoid island fever setting in! (takes 3 minutes to walk around it!) We stayed in a terraced bungalow located near the waterfront (not on a beach though, as was advertised to us) and i regret not going for the water bungalow, as they looked far more spacious and private with steps leading straight to the water... The staff in general were very pleasant and accomodating, with the exception of the guy who you pay your bill to at the back office at the end of your stay (he completely amazed us, either had a very bad day or must be suffering from island fever! - totally unfriendly!). The island is most definately geared towards the German tour operators, with a small minority of french and spanish guests during our stay. I would say this resort would rate 3 stars at best due to the lack of general amenities, which is more to do with the lack of the islands actual size than anything else!

We have just returned from our honeymoon at Thuhagiri and quite frankly, we were dazzled by the resort and location. We had the end water bungalow (a total must) which was gorgeous. Doors opened out to a decked area leading to steps straight into the sea which was stunning. It was so quiet and private compared to some of the beach rooms which were slightly closer together. All comforts and mod cons in the resort but still keeping away from the array of bars and commercial iterruptions some islands clearly have. The food was far too good and so much of it. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Watersports and diving were available & we did a couple of trips/dives (Not too expensive either). The reef and sea life was breathtaking. We loved the fact it was so small & not commercialised to the hilt. We felt important and not just a number. A true (if not luxury) taster of the Robinson Crusoe experience. As travellers who have never returned to a place twice, we have already planned to go back Feb 2006.
