Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari, Nakuru

We have been to Mt Kenya twice on Safaris,it was one of the best vacations we have ever experienced.Everything was first class from our wonderfull room,service and meals. Hope to visit again in the next couple of months.

I loved the place. what a view of Mt Kenya, particularly after it rains. we had a cottage facing the mountain, with a fireplace, huge bath [my wife was crazy about it], nice balcony and sitting room. So romantic! the gardens make you feel like feel like you are in a hollywood setting, too perfect until you read that there was a movie set on the grounds by Holden! there is a small golf course, horse riding and an animal orphanage. I'm Kenyan so I did not think highly of the orphanage perhaps due to exposure to Mara and Amboseli. The staff are friendly particularly the GM, Abdi. The food was a bit poor not exactly gourmet. The breakfast was decent. Go for a walk, see the rhinos, play hide and seek in the maze, it is great family fun.

We travel all over the world, and are partial to Africa. Mt. Kenya Safari Club was disappointing in many aspects. We had two wonderful rooms with an adjoining lounge in the river view lodges. The suites were enormous, as were the bathrooms and terraces. The evening fires in the rooms were fantastic. It starts to go downhill from here. The food in the main dining room is horrible, as is the bar service in all areas of the hotel. Don't bother with the dress code because Americans are the only patrons that subscribe to this, as all others are welcomed in sneakers and baseball caps, even at the evening meals in the main dining room. We had read so much about the rich history of this hotel, but we will not stay here again. Even though Mt. Kenya Safari Club is listed in the book "1,000 Places To See Before You Die", we would rather die 1,000 deaths before we return!
