African Village Hotel, Banjul

We would not recommend this hotel. The toilet smelled, the room was dark and damp (even in the dry season). Outside the hotel men 'bumsters' are waiting in numbers and we felt imprisoned to the complex. We had to ask three times to get a new pillow and once the maid left a dirty wet rag in one of our suitcases.

The hotel was basic but the staff and locals were lovely i would definately go back to the hotel. The service,food,amenities were all great. Its not ideal for very young children.

Friendly athmosphere,nice and very friendly staff,good food and good entertaining every night.The pool is nice and quiet,and the hotel is near to almost everything.And the rooms are cleaned every day!

It was always very nice and close to Bakau. It is not in a "tourist corner". The taxi´s were available in anytime. The Pool were every morning clean. Every day new towels. The staff smiled the whole day. The menue was wonderful for a good price. The seaside is great. A nice place to stay, if you don´t like 4 and 5 stars Hotels.

the african village hotel is the nicest hotel i have ever being to the food is great and the people are really friendly and they will remember you if you went back again and i made loads of friends

I cant even find the words to describe this so called hotel! I couldnt flush my toilet and the staff tried to hit on me. I wouldnt recomend it to anyone.......

This Hotel is wonderfull, nice roomservice very friendly people, wonderfull, fantastic. Great vibes, the views, the food(rise & fish) I love it! And offcourse the beach parties sow great. I'II be back in March 2006!

African Village - This is the place to be Great hotel in Bakao, there are the nicest tourist guides, the best service and a great pool area. I loved it there and wanted to stay... I´m going back in february 2006 for 3 weeks

This hotel is great,the staff are so friendly and everyone seems to know eveyone else. Rooms basic but only used for sleeping so who cares,food great and good value,all in all a fantastic experience and going back in 2006.

For a single lady travelling alone and of a certain age, this was outstanding when I last visited. Perfect staff, location, everything. No hassle at all. Locals really welcoming. Only downside, I became confused about tipping because the Guides are not paid by the Hotel and apparently I over-tipped. Shall know next time I return, in January 2006!
