Azalai Hotel Independance, Ouagadougou

Upon checking I asked and was told that breakfast was included in the price, so I ate breakfast.  Every time I was asked to sign, I wrote it was free.  Upon leaving I was told that there had been an error, and that I would not be permitted to leave unless I paid for all the breakfasts.  The credit card took care of this, but clearly this "mistake" was premeditated. You are told to use something, then oops, you heard wrong and must absolutely pay.  I also lost money from the room, which the management said they would inquire about. Nothing was done. Instead guards blocked me from leaving unless I paid. The hotel is centrally located, but there are many others with better reputation.

This is the place to stay if attending FESPACO. Conferences, symposiums, receptions and great conversation non-stop on the hotel grounds. Great pool if you can find the time to swim!

I REALLY ENJOYED MYSELF IN OUAGA AND THE LIVELY ACTIVITIES AT INDEPENDANCE HOTEL. HOTEL SERVICES AND BREAKFAST WERE QUITE GOOD ESPECIALLY SINCE THE HOTEL WAS FULLY BOOKED FOR THE FESPACO FILM FESTIVAL. I AM RETURNING IN FEBRUARY 2007 TO ATTEND FESPACO AND ENJOY AGAIN. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL ALTHOUGH NOT SUPER FANCY BUT IT IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE WITH THE SERVICES PROVIDED.

This hotel has great people at the reception area. Very helpful. I have names and number is you would like. They are upscale with the bottom rooms going for 35000 CFA francs. But if you are a tourist, this spot is good for you. Their is only one problem. The area of Ouaga this is in, doesnt have street vendors and is very tourist based. You can walk south towards the airport and you will find real Ouagan life.

As a native of Burkina Faso i can tell you that this hotel is probably one of the best in the country. the location is ideal, the service very nice and the ambiance is just incredible. Not to menetion the very attractive swimming pool. Check it out !!!!
