two star experience for five star prices
By ,
To start with, the receptionists were rude and could not even speak a word of English. Second, they were insulting enough to ask my husband and I to show them our marriage certificate (as supposedly non-married couples can't share a room). The room itself needed updating, but was spacious and had amazing views. The breakfast was barely edible, with bad coffee, sweetened seruppy orange juice and a very poor selection of fruit. The waitresses were very rude, refusing to allow us a choice of table. There were too many of them, all heavily made-up but not really paying attention to the fact we had no coffee or juice. This hotel needs to revolutionze the way it is run, incuding the website, staff attitude, room decor, food......

Quite an experience
By ,
Rooms need new furniture and carpet considering the price we pay for a single night (almost $200.00). They put broken refrigerators in your room, a broken radio that goes back the 60's. It stinks cigarettes. They FORBID YOU from buying and bringing your own food that you like and can afford. They impose their own food on you at their crazy prices i.e, a bottle of water 250 DA They have no clear regulations it's up to their mood. If they hate you, that's too bad for you. There is no way that you can complain to the owner of the hotel because simply he is ABSENT you will never see him. service is okay but not the best,

The view is great, the service is below standard
By ,
I couldn't believe that this hotel is rated five stars. I am not sure how the rating is awarded, but if we consider the condition of the hotel, rooms, restaurants and services it should be not more than two stars. The key to your room is attached to a huge keychain the size of a brick that you must hand in and retrieve every time you leave the hotel. The view is wonderful specially if you are facing the sea, however this view doesn't compensate for other services.

My home away from home!
By ,
Yes the hotel needs quite a bit of refurbishing, but what a great hotel! The restaurants were amazing from the food to the wine to the service! You need look no further than the hotel restaurants and bars for great food and service. If you want to go out, you are not far from other great restaurants, etc. The entire staff was OUTSTANDING! The bars are right out of the 70's. The view unforgetable, and so close to a couple of Mosques that the call to prayer will wake you up in the morning, but that's part of the great experience! The nightclub is now closed, but the bars were still fun! Many of the staff, okay the bar staff, remembered my name right from the start and we had a great time attempting to communicate! It didn't seem to bother them that I was faking my way with French... a lot of nodding and sign language was all it took. The bar on level E, was my favorite... as soon as the bartender saw me round the corner he would hold up a Bier Algere, as if to ask... The Same Again or Les meme choix! Details: The rooms are large and a bit outdated, but still comfortable. Plenty of water pressure, with seperate toilet room from bath/shower area. TV with three english channels, the rest are in French or Arabic. There is a salon for getting hair styled or cut, a watch store and a womans fashion store. Taxi's to the city centre are only about 20 Dinah, not bad at all. The pool looked beautiful, but it was a bit too cold to take a dip while I was there. I will stay there on all my next trips because it's close to the ministries and the Embassy.

total magrebhin james bond experience
By ,
not only does the view from the 2nd floor terrace rip out your soaring bird-like heart with its lusty beauty and seductive possibility but the two main bars are some of the best i have seen in the world! the main floor bar is a circular sort of north african 70's UFO design with low couches and circular portal windows. the second floor bar is swathed in walls of mirrors and features a long balcony overlooking the bay. bring your eyeliner darling. there are always pretty fantastic art exhibits on the second-floor, as well as displays of local bric-a-brac, jewelry and souvenirs. this is a great place to go hang-out and drink in the algerian tradition of partying at fine hotels.

never want to go back!
By ,
Great view of the seaport. And you can see the hotel easily from highway coming to the city from the airport. It looks so much like an air conditioner that algierians refer to it as such.Hotel is old, dingy.Bathrooms were o.k.And had plenty of water and water preasure. There are not good shops or boutiques inside. They have old and overpriced items.I bought a simple chocolate bar in the lobby newspaper stand that was very old.I found the staff to be very cold and unfriendly.Maid also would enter room without knocking. It is a goverment owned hotel. When going to algiers i always stay in an international hotel after my expierence at Aurassi Hotel.Even if location is inconveinent.

Please refurbish the rooms
By ,
An average hotel with large rooms which need refurbishing. It is a huge hotel which does not really lend itself to a personal service. The location is very good for me due to its proximity to the centre of Algiers and it has great views.

Unforgetable View and stay
By ,
I was there from june 29 to july 5, 2005. first of all I would strongly recommend you to choose room on the Sea side, You will never forget the View specially at night. the hotel may need some renewal work, but for sure it is the best value for your money, the hotel is clean, cheap and serivice is very friendly and very good. stuff can use english, french and arabic to communicate. Rooms are very big and wide. with 5 Restaurants, 3 bars, Business Centre with internet connection and a nice swimming pool i felt as if i am in vacation. for sure i will be back
