Not What I Expected
By ,
As my eldest son had stayed 5 years previous to us and had an unexpected upgrade to a deluxe suite I was expecting something a little special as we were visiting as part of a Cruise and stay vacation. As the situation was we were given rooms that were in a state of disrepair as the hotel was going thru a referb!! but that did not excuse the bath in our room having a patch of filler in it and the chairs neeeded a good clean. the only saving graces were the staff and, clean beddding and the view of the Nile.

First Class all the way!
By ,
What is not to like? From the minute I stepped foot in side the Ramses Hilton, until the day I checked out, the Hotel staff was first class all the way! They took every step to ensure that I was a happy traveler! My room was spotless! I had an outstanding view of the Nile River and I could even see the Great Pyramids from my room! Located in central Cairo, a great location, I walked to the Cairo Museum in 5 minutes! I am not a first class traveler, I am just your average guy that just always wanted to see Egypt and the Pyramids before I go, AND I DID! The staff of the Ramses Hilton made me feel as if I were a VIP, Thank You!

Exceeded Expectations
By ,
The reviews I read shortly after booking my trip were less than flattering and I was somewhat apprehensive. However, I needn't have been! For whatever reason, the desk clerk upgraded our room from a Guest room to a King Deluxe. From the 19th floor we had a perfect view of the pyramids, the Nile and Cairo. Our room and all common areas in the building were clean and well appointed. Our only complaint would be that the mini-bar fridge was not cold enough. Otherwise, the newspaper was delivered before we awoke, breakfast was plentiful and diverse, our room was cleaned nicely, the bed was turned down at night, flowers and candy were often left for us and the staff was congenial and accommodating. On our last night we were greeted by two camels wearing sunglasses that were created from bath towels and sitting on our bed! If I were ever to return to Cairo, I would not stay anywhere except the Hilton Ramses! As a middle class American, it was "5-Star" enough to suit my tastes!

Unprofessional check-in personel
By ,
I did not like the service nor the arrogancy with whom we were treated by the working personel. We had to tell the same story over and over again. Every time an employee disappeared, then we get another one, then he disappeared too and so on. We were attended by at least 4 different personel, which is very unprofessional. I arrived from Amsterdam with KLM at 02.20 am on December 14th., 2007, so of course I would have a very early check-in which was not my fault. The hotels in Cairo should start working with the early arrivals of the aircrafts in order to make adjustments to their check-in time for passengers arriving early. I was very poorly treated and I would not be staying in a Hilton in Egypt any time soon.

Won't Go Back
By ,
It's supposed to be a 5 star hotel but it's nowhere near the standard of 5 star hotels in Dubai or Singapore for example. The place is in desperate need of an extreme makeover. Like Cairo it's drab. The mattress in our room was bouncy, the plumbing antiquated and there was no main switch for the lights. You have to go round switching off all the lights. The F and B is average and expensive. The location is not great either. Our room overlooked the bus interchange and to cross the roads to walk anywhere is a nightmare. The only saving grace is that the staff are friendly and attentive. We've stayed in better 3 star hotels. The Nile Hilton is apparently better but not that brilliant either!

Love it!
By ,
I've stayed at the Ramses Hilton 10 times. Its a great location and a beautiful hotel. Its always been my most memorable vacation, the Ramses hotel adds to the nostalgia for me. No need for taxis at the Ramses, great area to walk, shop, bargain for jewels, eat, meet people, and explore! I caught a wedding party in the hotel once, very friendly people, I had a ball! There are beautiful souvenir shops inside the hotel as well. Lots of yummy food, chocolates, and beverages are stocked in the mini refrigerators inside the rooms. I always look forward to the Mars bars and coca cola when I'm there! Seems to taste better in Cairo! I met wonderful people in the lounge area. The service has always been extremely polite and catering to any needs. Make sure to check out the street shop bazaar at Khankhalili.

Not the best
By ,
The hotel is situated in the midst of a flyover and only the very brave should venture out across the road in front of the hotel! The pool is noisy with the traffic being so close and the water was covered in leaves and cold. The rooms are the same as any Hilton and the service couldn't be faulted but at the price you can do a lot better if you shop around and book online
