Auberge du Lac Fayoum, El Fayoum

The hotel is wonderful. The old hunting lodge style has been retained but with mod. cons. Service, food and surroundings excellent. Sightseeing is outstanding. Small leaflet in reception shows places of interest but must visits are Valley of the Whales and the waterfalls. At least half a day for Valley of the Whales (a walkers paradise) and waterfalls can be included in same day. We only spent a weekend here but it was not long enough. We certainly will come back.

This is a lovely hotel, an old hunting lodge, very homely,old fashioned and full of character. Service is excellent. The lounge area is really good to sit and while away the evening or an afternoon after sight seeing it has a wonderful atmosphere. Food was good, very nice fish. Was a little concerned for health and safety when flaming swords were brought into the low ceiling, timber beamed dining room on someones birthday!! But it all adds to the adventure. The gardens are very pretty and go down to the lake. The hotel is a quirky place though, sticking doors and torn carpet but clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed my stay.
