Lives up to its name
By RainbowChaser, 02/20/09
As a group of 7 we stayed in Shirley Bells. The view off the back porch is breath-taking. You can see the entrance to the park and Mammouth Hot Springs. Be aware, the yellowstone river is alot further down than it looks! The cabin is large, roomey, and clean. The beds aren't bad. We brought our own sheets and sleeping bag but we are weird like that. The kitchen is fully equipted with all you need to cook and make coffee. Washer & Dryer but bring your own detergent. For food, there is a grocery store down in Gardiner. For city folks be prepared for well water. It has a slight smell which is normal for filtered well water. Only negative is the drive up to the lodge. If you are coming after dark pray you have a GPS. The road up to the lodge is dirt (take out the extra insurance on the rental car), vertical, and winedy. It will feel like it takes forever to get up there the first couple of times. Email me if you have questions : )

Can't beat the view or laid back atmosphere
By Dan, 10/22/08
I can't say enough about the lodge. We stayed in The Nest for one week. The view looking out the back porch is breathtaking. The location was perfect for our trip. It's close enough to Gardiner, MT for picking up supplies and gas (about 2 miles), yet far enough away to get away from others. It's about three miles from the north entrance of Yellowstone. If you are looking for a laid back location without the crowds, this is the place to be. My only negative is The Nest had many light bulbs burnt out and some general upkeep is needed. But, that's part of the charm of the place and was part of our wonderful experience. P.S. Don’t forget to feed the ducks

MY PARADISE
By Shel, 02/20/06
On top of the world like only in dreams and humble you back into a bright vision of awakening beauty. The stars enhancing the landscape silhouette, light up the night sky. Camping there was far from any campsite you may have ever been. This place inhabits the most wonderful sounds of nature that will lull you into the most peaceful rest. Rested, for days of exciting new experiences to keep you coming back. Words can not express the amazing time I had...Thank you so much...*Michelle*

Horrible experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/05
Steph's Cabin..Weeds all around house. Old building badly in need of repair. Owner seemed confused when we checked in. House listed as 'cute' but beat up inside. Spiral staircase to bedroom. No cases on pillows and holes in window and slider screen. Sheet for sofa bed mattress was torn and again no pillow cases. Coffee pot moldy. TV had broken previous day per owner and no idea when it would be fixed. Bedroom full of flying bugs from torn screens. Awful experince. Advised owner of problems next morning and he did not seem to be concerned. We left as soon as we could.
