Cape Superior Inn, Duluth

i thought this was going to be a nice place to stay with my family. Man whas I wrong. This place was a dump, and is certanly overrated. Im not sure how old the bed/matress was, but it was like sleeping on a brick, The bed was small, but it had to be due to the size of the rooms. The rooms were small, cramped, poorly lit, and looked like they were from the 50's. The bathroom was very small and really needed updating to a modern look. The rooms got stuffy and there was no a/c to help with that condition. I couldnt get cell phone service well due to the location of the inn being so far from town. Since there was not a phone in our room, we had to go outside our room, hope to get signal just to make a call. I was so horrible that it prompted me to actually go online and rate this place. Forget the peaceful lakeside location, apparently they opened a booze shop on site and the traffic going to and from it ruined any peaceful environment that the place may have ever had. We had planned to stay a week there, but left after the second night and instead stayed at another hotel. Also, there was no cable or sattellite tv in our rooms. we had local channels only and then the cheap indoor tv antenna wouldnt pick them up most of the time.

Myself and several friends stopped and stayed at this place. The Restaraunt next to this place is the old castle, but is no longer owned by the people who own the Cape Superior Inn. First, there is no parking lines in the parking lot of the inn, and as small as the driveway to the place is, parking our motorcycles as far as we could out of the way, still left them exposed to the dangerously close vehicle traffic using the driveway. All the rooms are no smoking, and when we went out on the poorly built wooden balcony area in front of our rooms, we were chastised by the manager for being too loud and for drinking. The water pressure during our showers was non-existant. During several of the showers, the water just stopped comming out of the showerhead for 3 or 4 minutes. The rooms look like they were furnished with Salvation Army thrift store items. The beds were small and uncomfortable, there are no telephones or air conditioners in any rooms for those of you wo may want them. The inn is a strip shaped block building with a poorly built and maintained catwalk to the second floor rooms. If you stayed at the local Motel 6 you would probably get a better value for your money and definately would be more satisfied with the accomodations.

We feel that Lakeview Castle is the very best place to stay on the North Shore. The rooms are clean, quiet and a great value for the money. The view, if you are fortunate enough to have a lakeside room, is wonderful. It is our vacation destination for the North Shore.

faux painted to look like a castle right on the lake, outstanding food, and waitresses. Great specials, we had the all you can eat lake trout special, still full. huge banquet hall seats over 300. would be a great party spot.

We liked that it was like a real castle and that you didn't have to slay any dragons. The cuisine was very wonderful and the service was spectacular. The veiws of the lake were exceptional as well. I will definatly be back in the near future.

The restarant has very good food been there many times before the veiw of the lake is wonderfully pleasent at all times of the year
