DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY and SMELLY TOO
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/08
We spent over 2K on this place basedon its location for our beginner skiers. The actual unit we have is fair (faucet does not work properly, old amenities) but clean. However, the place as a whole is NASTY. The hallways are littered with peices of food, carrot peices in the elevator, chips and candy ground into the carpets, etc. The services are pitiful....towels are not replaced, the pool supposedly has towels and you get down there and there are none. Staff gets attitude for asking you to get the things that should be there! The promised wireless connections do not work (took 3 days to get a connection). WHen we called to check on the wireless services, noone knew anything and we were asked to call several people, none of which even knew that was an amentiy at the condo. THe place is PACKED with very large groups of kids (I have 4 kids, this is not an anti kid posting). THey pull into the lobby and undress in the lobby, blocking the entire area from getting skiers trying to pass. Very annoying to see kids in various states of undress everywhere (Try checking in like everyone else!!) Skiing is good for beginners and novices. THe ski staff was very nice and we were pleased with the ski school instructors (Hurray for Mel and Mike!) We will not come back based on the condition of the hallways, corriders, common areas. I have NEVER seen anyplace so dirty and I am a junior high teacher!!! Even a kids cafeteria is cleaner than the hallways here! IT is just plain ratty and it smells horrid!

Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/08
Silver Creek Lodge is a great place to stay, very convenient to everything. Tubing and skiing are right outside your door. The food court and pool just make it all that more appealing. We had a great unit with a fireplace, very well maintained. You park your car when you get there and don't need to use it again until you leave. There is a shuttle bus that continuously runs through the Snowshoe community, we never waited for more that 5 minutes for the bus. My children took ski lessons at Silver Creek. They were great. Karen was their instructor would definitely recommend her. I recommend taking walkie-talkies, otherwise it is hard to communicate with others in your party, since there is no CELL PHONE coverage on the mountain. Also, I wish I had brought more food so that we could have eaten dinner in the room. The restaurants were very crowded, many had a 1 1/2 to 2 hour wait. There are no grocery stores nearby. The Silver Creek Lodge is not without it problems, though relatively small. The front desk personnel were very unaccommodating. I witnessed a father and son asking for quarters since the game room change machine was out of order. They asked if someone could fix the machine. The woman working the front desk responded that she worked for Snowshoe and the gameroom belonged to Silver Creek so she couldn't do anything about it. I asked if she could at least call someone to report it broken and she replied that she couldn't. When we used the pool, there were no towels availabe, so I asked for some at the front desk. I was told that the pool was very busy during the day, therefore there were no more towels, they were being washed. It was probably their attitude that bothered me the most. They just didn't care. The pool was a zoo. There were no lifeguards or Silver Creek employees on duty. It was filled with lots of rowdy kids throwing footballs and doing flips off the side of the pool with no parents in sight. Regardless of the minor inconveniences, the things that really counted were great. We're looking forward to going back. The skiing was great.

not happy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/08
Well the room was very nice and clean,The biggest problem we had for the price we paid of 400.00 was that when we where going to bed the sofa couch was broken so my 2 boys had to sleep on the floor. the next issue was the next morning we could all not take a shower cause there was only one towel.we did not get any extra towels till 5 pm that night, we also had the maintenace man come up to look at the bed he said the bed was broke, so he said and also the front desk that there was probably no more cots and if there was it would cost a extra 20.00.so my children had to sleep on our bed and me and my husband had to sleep on the floor. Very unhappy about that. But besides that my children and husband had a great time skiing.

Silver Creek is the best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/07
For uncrowded, well kept slopes, short lift lines, and family atmosphere, you can't beat Silver Creek. There is a shuttle to the slopes at Snowshoe, but we seldom go there since the experience at Silver Creek is so much nicer. You can ski from the door, and everything you need is under one roof. Small children have lessons and their own building, complete with a 'magic carpet'. The tubing hill is popular also, and there is a special slope for snow boarders. In the evening, unwind with the indoor/outdoor pool, or a good soak in the hot tub. The people who work there are very friendly, and take good care of you.

Silver Creek has it all.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/07
As a Silver Creek owner I am disturbed by a post I just read from a dissatisfied guest. I would be disappointed as well if I was paying $400 a night for a lumpy bed, decorated with old furnishings and moth eaten curtains (which I find hard to believe). Please know that most of the Silver Creek units are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with full kitchens and washer & dryers in each 1 & 2 Bedroom units. Silver Creek has an in-house Housekeeping and Maintenance Department to tend to our guest needs, where other Condos on the mountain contract out theses services. If this guest paid $400/nt and received poor accomodations, I can assure you the Mtn or Silver Creek was sold out on that date and Snowshoe had no place to move them. Snowshoe wants every guest to have a great Snowshoe experience and they make every effort to move an unhappy guest. Silver Creek is a ski-in/ski out facility with the only night skiing on the Mtn and the only Condo with inside/outside heated pools. SC also has inside/outside Jacuzzis, sauna, exercise facility, shops, sports bar, mini mart, food court, in room internet (wireless at Misty's), weekend movies, a computer & printer available for guest use, ski rental, ski school, and the only Tubing on the Mountain. We have front desk check-in just inside our doors. So if you get a lumpy mattress you can bet Snowshoe has nothing left to give you at Silver Creek. Snowshoe has a rotation system, this means that gold rate units go first, then silver rated units and last would be the bronze units. They encourage homeowners to get the "gold" rating with the reward of more frequent rental rotations.

A great place to be any time of year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/07
We love SilverCreek. It is a great place to be any time of year, just depends on what you are looking for. In the ski season it is a bustling family place with skiing and tubing and restaurants and activities close by. In the off season its a great place to go and enjoy the outdoors. There are many trails and lakes, States parks and other things in close proximity. The only negative is that there are not any off season restaurants open right there. You have to drive a few miles for groceries and restaurants. But on the positive side, plan ahead, these units have full kitchens! We love the locals who are very friendly and the beautiful natural surroundings. Our kids love the indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub that are open year round, Shavers lake to paddle boat, and the many summer events. We go again and again.

Wow, Gee Golly- Uhuck
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/06
Loved it, snowball fights in the outdoor jacuzzi, getting in the sauna right after skiing, ski- in and out, the tubing, the list goes on. The only thing that I would have to say that is needed is a good restaurant. But, even w/o it is excaeptional.

It was great!!
By abcd, 1/31/06
We liked Snowshoe mountain a lot. It's a great place to Ski and also learn Ski. We were first timers so we took a lesson. And our instructor was very friendly and patientful. It took a day to get cofident and after that it was no stopping. We stayed at Silver Creek lodge. It was a nice stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. If anyone wants to do only snow sports then only you should go otherwise there is nothing else.

Great all year round
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/05
We love Silver Creek because not only is it close to family activities in both winter and summer, but it also has a large indoor-outdoor pool, with 2 jacuzzis, and a sauna.
