Desk clerk needs more training

OK for last minute and one night. Booked online with hotel.com. When checked in late in evening clerk didn't have information that we booked with. Wanted to double the extra person rate from what we were told. I talked to the reservation agent on the phone to verify extra person charge when booking. Deskclerk told me she probably lied to me and certainly didn't talk to anyone there. When I wanted a detail of the charge she wouldn't tell me because she said she had no idea when she didn't to the reservation???? Wanted my printout for verification of what I was quoted. Next gave us a smoking room instead of non so we had to change rooms. Beds are great, cleanliness fair. Stains on chairs and carpet dirty. wifi worked OK, but when asked clerk as checked in how we use it she said she didn't know because she had never used it before. What??? Some poor lady behind us checking in got yelled at by the clerk and that customer mumbled as she left office that she didn't care for that worman. :) I certainly hope someone sets up better training for their hospitality staff. I guess I'm spoiled by Marriott.
