Love this place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/11
Updated this art deco hotel. Very charming. Location cannot be better. Clean. Friendly staff. Lobby has new carpeting, painted. Hallways & guestrooms also. Cafe at the Plaza is outstanding for breakfast.

A great place to stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/08
I had the chance with about 30 other motorcylests to stay there for Harley Davidsion 105th anniversary. It was clean, friendly, and inexpensive compared to the high priced places around there. Staff did a good job and the resturant in the lobby was great. The residents that live there were very friendly also. Great job.

Great value
This is a wonderful hotel for the budget minded individual. The staff is helpful and friendly, but slow. The rooms are clean, updated, but very very very old! It is an old dorm hall, so don't expect elegance, but just a comfortable stay. The restaurant downstairs is WONDERFUL and a great value. You can get free breakfast coupons from the front desk if you ask!

great location, bad hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/07
We had reservations for two nights last weekend and only ended up staying one. The room was small but had a full kitchenette. The bathroom was very old. There was only a room air conditioner. The bed was uncomfortable and there was only a light on one side of the bed (not good for those of us who like to read in bed). The air conditioner above ours discharged its water at 45 minute intervals all night, splashing on the metal of our air conditioner rather loudly and waking us up (including the normally heavy sleeper). In the morning, the tub spigot spewed rusty water and no hot water. We went to the front desk and were given another room. No real improvement though the shower did work. In this room, there was an open window next to the window with the air conditioner. It had no screen and could not be closed. We checked out and found other accomodations for the evening. We will never stay there again.

Great Old Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/23/07
Great Hotel in centrally located neighborhood. Great value! Great building with a great restaurant. The staff was nice but a bit slow to requests. I would stay there again.

Good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/06
Great weekly rates and reasonable nightly rates and excellent location. Pretty good sized rooms, clean and comfortable (appears to be recently renovated). A bit noisy: ask for room away from interior courtyard, where the diner has seating in summer. Nothing fancy, but pleasantly surprised at quality for price.

Great Place, Bad Staff
By Kevin, 6/19/06
The location is great, right between the lake front and the Water Street bars/restaurants. The rooms are comfortable, clean, spacious, well equipped, etc. The only problem was the front desk staff. Two of the three we saw were disorganized, slow, unhelpful, and confusing. All I wanted to do was check in, get a parking pass, and get directions to the public beach but it turned into a long ordeal - very frustrating.

Affordable 'Outback Style'
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/05
Very affordable! Hotel & parking convenient and great location. Stayed here for a month while in town for business. Would definately go back. Not the Four Seasons though, more outback.

Crazy, cozy place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/04
We're in Milwaukee a lot, and we always stay at the Plaza when we need to overnight it. It's not for everyone, though — definitely not your basic chain hotel. Rooms at the Plaza are more like mini apartments, and in fact it's a residential property as well as a hotel. Rooms are very clean, if a little down at the heels. The diner in the hotel serves a top notch breakfast. Location is great, downtown on the East side in a residential area. The mint green terrazzo in the lobby is a marvel to behold. Only 3 stars, but two big thumbs up.
