Not what I expected
My boyfriend and I were going on our first romantic vacation ever together before his unit deployed. Their website advertised that they were dog friendly, and I have an 8 pound dog so this was great so we wouldn't have to board her. He called and made the reservation. They told us that we would be in a specific room because of the dog. They never bothered to tell us that we were going to be in the only room on the first floor in between where the owners stay, across the hall from the kitchen, and sharing a wall with the parlor/dining area. Some romantic get away! We could hear everything going and we were to worried that everyone else could hear what we were doing. Then AFTER we arrived, they asked if we brought a crate for my dog to stay in while we were out of the room. They never told us this on the phone (but i crate my dog anyway, but what if I didn't). For an extra $25 a night to have her in our "special dog friendly room" that should not have been asked. I would they are dog tolerent, not dog friendly! If we had been told what the room option was, I would have gladly boarded her for $10 a night at her vet.
And then what really topped the cake was after we returned from our first afternoon of exploring, one of the owners approached and told us since they were getting ready to host a small wedding in the parlor area (which we have to walk through to get in and out of our room) that we either had 15 minutes to get ready and get out for the evening, or stay in our room for the next hour until the ceremony was over. I"m sorry, but if you knew you were having a wedding, why was that room rented out?!?! For $225 a night, I was extremely let down for my first bed & breakfast expierence and for our first romantic getaway. They made us pay in full upon arrival. And then after they found out my boyfriend was active military, they said we wish you HAD let us known that. What does that mean? You would have given a discount but since we already paid in full you're not going to refund anything?
The food was great and the owners did warm up to us, but little too late. I think they have a long way to go in learning how to run a bed and breakfast and giving the service that is expected.
I have a degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism and work in the service industry. I was EXTREMELY let down by this place.
