Good location and good room
The hotel is conviently located by I-57 and centrally located to see Shawnee National Forest. The place is not the most modern/updated but the pool was nice, breakfast was the usual, and workers were nice.
What made this place work for me is that my family stayed in a suite with a sofa bed pullout. This allowed my nine year old boy to sleep in a bed by himself while my seven year old boy slept on the sofa bed pullout. EVERYONE slept well due to this sleeping arrangement.
My wife and kids used the in-room whirlpool everyday we stayed there. We used the pool everyday and only on our third day (Saturday night) did anyone else use the pool for any length of time.
The breakfast consists of make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, yogurt, cereal, toast, danish, and blueberry muffins along with milk, coffee, tea, orange juice, and apple juice.
The room was $100 plus tax.
The downsides were the grout on a few shower tiles could have been cleaned better, the ceiling fans in the lobby needed the fan blades dusted, and there was only one elevator.
Other upsides were the vending machines were reasonably priced and full, the washer and dryer were working if needed, and it was a more mature crowd staying there so no kid noise from kids running up and down halls or crying needlessly.
Again, the sofabed for my seven year old son is what made the difference.
