Lake City Inn, Burnaby

We booked a room with this hotel on the recommendation of a friend who had stayed there 7 years ago. Apparently the hotel has declined terribly since then because the room was awful! The room stank of cigarette smoke, the mattresses were visibly sagged, and the carpets and chairs were stained. The light switch plates had obviously not been cleaned in ages as they were horribly grimy. The towels, though laundered, had obvious stains on them....and on it goes. The whole room had a very run down feel to it: chipped paint, old stained fridge and bathroom fixtures etc. I absolutely could not recommend that anyone stay here at any price point.

My wife and I first found this place 7 years ago and we liked it so much that we always stay here when visiting Vancouver. It is excellent value and the pool and courtyard area are perfect for families. We have always found the rooms clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is a Skytrain station nearby so we usually park our vehicle for the entire stay and take the train to wherever we want to go. There is a computer in the lobby with free internet use and there is a free continental breakfast. We have stayed here 4 times and have absolutely no complaints.

Was shocked this place was so highly rated in here. I'll just say, don't be misled. Just wasn't what I was looking for, should have stayed with the chain hotels.
