Luau Motel & Cottages, Wasaga Beach

We found the hotel a little expensive, but the accomodations were excellent. Our hotel room, washroom, and fridge were all impeccably clean... as well as the outdoor heated pool and grounds. The bed, pillows and sheets were top quality. Yes, there were rules posted everywhere you looked, but for those who appreciate other tenants who abide by such, you will love this place. Beach access is directly accross the road, and you are only a 5 minute walk to the main drag. The manager (the owners wife, I believe) was firm, but pleasant.

Very clean. Conveniently located to the Beach, and sight-seeing, such as Penetanguishene and Midland. The A/C, fridge, and comfortable beds much appreciated. As seniors, my husband and I enjoyed the small attentions afforded us by our hostess! Appreciated the cleanliness of the heated pool. Would NOT hesitate to recommend the Luau Motel.

My husband and I took our family to wasaga for a vacation, we stayed in one of what they called a suite. It was over priced for what you got, the oven and fridge didn't work and the owner didn't belive us when we told her she had to come and look for her self, we had been putting ice in it to keep all our food cold. She said well its still cold so its working. That was the first part, the second is that we had a family of mice in our room and when we told her about it she just laughed and said we were lying. For a room that was $245 a night we should have been moved of at least given some of our money back. When I asked her she was very rude and told me that I could have $30 to help cover the cost of the food that went bad in the fridge. At first glance the place looks wonderful nicely kept, very clean. even the staff told us about her and how she wasn't that friendly. I will never go back and its a shame because we would have but the owner isn't nice or helpful at all she is very rude.

We wanted to book a weekend in August 2011 for the annual corvette car show. We were told many suites were available and we would have to pay $300.00 to cover one nights accommodation although we were staying for two. We realized later that day we had a conflict and needed to cancel, therefore we returned and again met the female owner. It was the 30th day to cancel so we were within our right to do so. The owner stated "I already charged it to Visa and I have done the paperwork so I will have to take $50." We discussed we should not be charged as we were within the 30 day policy but she didn't care, she took the $50 any way. This woman told us she was the owner along with her husband and than she made a rude comment about him. She did not provide her first name or even welcome us. She gave rates even higher than those listed on the rate sheet. The only thing this owner is concerned about is money and how much she can get from you. I will say that the Luau Motel is attractive and we really wanted to stay here because of the pool for our kids but the fall out with the owner leaves a bad taste in our mouth. She definitely is not customer oriented nor does she have any social skills. We will never stay here and its too bad because we could have recommended it to hundreds of people. Liked the atmosphere. From the minute I stepped into the office, the lady was very cold and abrupt. Not friendly at all. Even though the rooms were clean and the grounds well kept, I would not return here or ever recommend this place to anyone. They really should reconsider interacting with the public if they don't even like people!

I read the review after the visit. I agree with some reviewers that this place has so many rules, not suitable for family with small kids, good for older adults. The host is very cool. This place is very quiet, well keep, spotless. The heated pool is very nice too. It is walking distance to the beach. Hope they have coffee maker & microweave in the room.

Motel room had no hairdryer, no coffee maker, and the two double beds were pushed up against the walls, forcing two of us to climb over the other to get in and out. The smoke from outside the rooms, pool area and sundeck were at times overwhelming. On check in we were told we could not park our second car on their property, and it's a $10 /day charge to park next door.We had to pay for the whole day , despite arriving at 6 pm.(This was the only motel out of 18 that we stayed at where this was an issue) Female at front desk unfriendly, seemed disapproving of kids in general.Watching constantly , especially in pool area-not very relaxing! We felt it was overpriced for what we got, and did not feel welcome at all. Agree with previous review, felt we were being done a favour to allow us to stay there.

The Luau is a great place to stay. We are a family of 5 and we spend a week every summer.Very clean,everyone is very friendly,we dont have to worry about parties etc. It is like an Oasis, we just love it.

We have been going to this resort every summer for a 10 day duration for over 6 years' and we absolutely love it. We have 2 young children i.e. 5 and 10 and we always know that they are safe in this resort. There is lots to do, the grass is kept like golf green grass i.e. - plush and great to play or sit on. It is right on the river, across the street from the beach and walking distance from the main drag. We have stayed in the condos, cottages and motel rooms and they are all spotless and extremely comfortable - just like home. We have always found the owners and staff extremely friendly and helpful and we truly look forward to returning every year. We would recommend this resort to anyone who cares about having a great vacation. The S. Family.

Although the workers keep this place spotless and beautifully decorated,this is not a family resort. The female host seems to have a problem taking to the customers. She is very rude and unfriendly.Try another spot.
