Murphey's Motel, Lee Vining

Okay place, average rooms, good service. But my car contents were gone through and electronics stolen along with a blouse! While loading the car for departure, it wasn't locked every time since I was gone only a few minutes, but that was enough time for someone to go into my back seat and steal a GPS in a bag and my XM radio, and clothing, etc. I will not go back to Murphy's again even though I visit Mono Lake every month or so.

This place is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. Yes, there is road noise, but that would be true for all of the motels in Lee Vining. Turn on the A/C at night and that will add almost enough white noise to make up for the big rigs going by all night. In any case, I slept well. They also now have free Wi-Fi. Lee Vining is convenient to Mono Lake, Yosemite's Tioga Pass entrance, the ghost town of Bodie, and Devils Postpile National Monument. This is exactly where I would stay if I had it to do over again.

Clean, clean, clean. Four of us(2 rooms) arrived (tired) at 730pm after a long drive from Las Vegas and Death Valley and were made to feel so welcome by the owner. She got us to our rooms right away w/o taking any credit info until the morning . Lee Vining is a small town and is pretty much closed by 8pm or 9pm but we were able to satisfy our cravings at the local deli/convenience store. Reccommend this motel highly. Would definitely stay there again especially because of the hospitality and warmth of the owner . Did I mention that the rooms were clean?
