Consistently spectacular
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/26/10
I have been to the DKH at least 3 dozen times in the past 5 years because it is so close to home and our favorite place to dine. Without exception it is consistently spectacular across all areas - food, service, atmosphere etc. To be honest, I dont really pay too much attention to the price because a place like the DKH is worth every cent. I cant possibly think of one negative thing to say.

We can't wait to find an excuse to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/09
I booked a 2 night stay at Duling-Kurtz Inn for my boyfriend's birthday. I was originally looking at Fairville Inn, but Deb with Air Ventures (local hot air balloon co.) recommended Duling-Kurtz after discussing package details. We stayed in the George Washington Suite. The staff was SO friendly & helpful! (Even helping us unlock the door at 11pm when we couldn't figure out the key). The price for a 2 night stay during the week was such a deal, we just left this morning and already miss it. We were left alone to enjoy the surroundings & Inn by ourselves, no staff bugging us but readily available to answer any & all questions. Our room was very clean, the bed extremely comfortable-we both commented on how well rested we felt. The breakfast each morning was simple & easily taken back to our room, another feature we loved. Overall, I simply do not have one complaint about the experience. I am so grateful for the suggestion, as it helped save SO much money for a 2 night stay; with the same historical charm & comfort of home I was looking for. The negative reviews I read on this site had me a little weary; it seems as if DKH might've read the reviews & made changes as our stay was the perfect romantic, home-away-from-home, charming, comfortable, affordable, 2 night get-away we were hoping for. He was so happy with the experience, commenting on how it was the best birthday he's had in a very, very long time.

Ruined Valentines Day!
By Nick S, 02/16/09
We waited an hour to be seated, despite having reservations. For at least 30 minutes after we arrived nobody was even being seated, but people continued to arrive in droves. The wating area was filled to overflowing with angry Valentines Day diners - way to set a romantic atmosphere! The valet and maitre d were both rude and totally unapologetic. We waited another 20 minutes to even see our waitress after finally being seated. I ordered my steak medium-well but it was so bloody in the middle I couldn't finish it; after the ridiculous wait I did not even bother to send it back. At least the waitress (when we saw her) was nice enough, and even gave us dessert for free. But she recommended we not go there on holidays due to poor service! We will go her one better and never return, period!

I will NEVER return!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/07/09
My husband and I went to Duling Kurtz House for our anniversary last week as it had been recommended by a friend. It was such a horrific experience that neither I nor my friend will ever return! Our waitress was completely unprofessional, not really paying attention to us. Letting empty glasses sit on the table, not refilling our water in a timely fashion...I felt as if I was sitting in a diner! It took about 40 minutes after our appetizers to receive our entrees and once we finally did receive them, our filets were terribly overcooked (we ordered MR and they were MW to W)! And for desert the waitress spilled coffee all down the front of my blouse! And not once through all of this did the manager or the owner come and speak with us! This was definately not worth the time or the money we spent on it!

Not what I expected
By Lou, 10/26/08
I had read varying reviews of this restaurant but elected to make my own assessment. I wish I had taken the advice of those that posted negative reviews as it was a big let down for me. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary so we wanted to go some place special. Our evening began with cocktails that were the worst we have ever had. I honestly don't think the bartender knew what he was doing. Twenty two dollars for drinks that made us wince. The food itself was good, but nothing spectacular. I expected to be "wowed" but felt I could make most of what we had at home. The service was a huge disappointment. The waiter asked one time on the run if everything was okay. I thought he would check in during each course. Neither the host or hostess seemed interested either. The most gracious person we encountered was the valet. We could have gone somewhere else much less expensive and had the same experience. A restaurant charging these prices should have made dining much more special than they either cared to or knew how to do. I would not go back and I would not recommend it because it was not a good value. If you like this kind of restaurant make a reservation at the Dilworthtown Inn before going here.

you would have to pay us to go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/07
We were celebrating our 19 anniversary. We ordered the baked brie appetizer to share. This caused the waiter some consternation (sharing). Anyway, when it arrived there was plenty for two people as an appetizer. It was very pleasing to the eyes, but it was cold in the center and luke warm on the edges. The waiter brought another baked brie and had me slice it to see that it was properly cooked. It was less baked than the first brie. We skipped the appetizer and went on to the main course. My husband had the salmon which was ok. I had the Chilean sea bass. It was so salty, it was inedible and it was luke warm. The waiter brought another Chilean sea bass to the table. It was the same. I asked the waiter to try it. He did and he said he could understand how I felt. The waiter then suggested the lobster crepes. He said it was the most popular dish on the menu. It arrived and it certainly looked warm enough. I am not sure it was not heated in the microwave because that was how it tasted. My husband tasted it and he did not like it. In fairness maybe it has a sherry sauce on it that neither of us cared for, but I don't know what the sauce was.

I love the Duling Kurtz House
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/07
Every time i go to the Duling Kurtz House the service and the food gets more excellent every time and the wines and the wonderful wine list also get excellent. Also the inn could not be more nicer. It is everything you could ask for. I will never stay at another hotel again when I am visiting the area.

Not so great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/23/07
Recently took friends there for their "special night" - the cocktails were horrible and we couldn't even drink the cosmos we ordered, then ordered a vodka martini and it was even worse - food was good but disappointed in the cocktails as it sets the mood for the rest of the meal. Very pricey- good deserts. Don't live in the area but if I did, wouldn't go back unless they get a new bartender
