LIfelong customer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/11
I have bene going to Superior Shores since I was 5 (now 24) over the years I have a very goo dexperience in gerneral but I am afraid the current management is lacking forsight. They have the best location on the North Shore yet they seem satisfied with mediocre service and they have not updated the main lodge in 20 years. I love this place it is a part of my families history....maybe management should love it the same....

Great Location, disappointed with room.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
You can't beat the location, an A+ for sure. However, the room gets a D+ for sure. We were very disappointed with the room. $149 per night, and it wasn't worth $89. Drawers fell out. Dark and dank room. Bedding has seen much better days, years ago! The room was so disappointing. Rooms all need updating. We've gone to SS for many years - I think we're done.

Burlington Bay Breathtaking!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/09
We stayed at the new Burlington Bay Lakehomes. We got a penthouse unit and were blown away by the view of the lake. This unit had a full kitchen with brand new appliances, a jacuzzi in the bedroom and two fireplaces. The deck with grill was the perfect place to grill steaks, although not for the weak of heart- the view was so spectacular!! We also enjoyed the indoor/outdoor hottub!! The reservations were so easy to make over the phone, the girl who helped me was fantastic. Great location; not far from gooseberry falls and hiking trails/waterfalls. I recommend this place to everyone and will be returning annually!

Poor service, nice suites, expensive
By Rolf, 9/15/08
OK. the view is terrific combined with the BBQ, balcony, TV-DVD and kitchens, but ... let's hire and train some young folks who really care about the guests more than, say, the mags and books they spend their time with. I called lost and found about a charger and, gasp, no one ever called back. I suggest a change in personnel but the place is expensive but quite nice. Pool area is scummy, I thought.

Poorly managed resort!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/08
Something is definitely wrong with the management of this place! We clearly stated the need for a handicapped accessible room and all we got was...oops!! The lakehome unit we got had numerous stairs making it a difficult weekend for all. We felt like prisoners in our unit as we had to call on resort staff to literally "haul" us in and out in a wheelchair when we wanted to leave. When we asked to be compensated Ron took $60.00 off our $800.00 bill and actually blamed our group for not stating the need when reservations were made! Sixty dollars for ruining our weekend and humilitating our friend! We would not dream of NOT asking for this type of room so shifting the blame is clearly a low blow. Luckily, our group disabilities were temporary...but I wonder what people with permanent disability have to endure?? This speaks volumes as to what this resort is all about. Don't waste your time or money!! Grand Superior Lodge is right up the road!

BIG MISTAKE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/08
This place is horrible and the staff (besides a few) are absolutely horrible and should not be in the customer service business. Will not be going back

Awesome weekend!
By AmberK, 1/12/08
Loved it! The view of Lake Superior was fabulous and the fireplace and hot tube made it so comfy/cozy! It was a great friends weekend get-a-way!

Top Notch Facility
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/07
We stayed at the Burlington Bay Lakehome (1bdrm) on November 9-10th. I would definetely recommend staying at the Burlington Lakehomes as they are separated from the main lodge facility. The pool/sauna/spa areas was brand new and free from the crowds. The room was very spacious, full kitchen, and two fireplaces. We had a one bedroom unit. We ate at the lodge for lunch one afternoon, it was quiet and the food was alright. Very good Bloody Mary's. If you are looking for a place to go for supper I would definetely recomment Blackwoods downtown, right on the main drag. I would recommend spending the extra money to get away from the crowds and treat yourself to a quiet getaway, right on the beautiful lake.

we won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/8/07
We have stayed at Superior Shores many times, but the last 2 times the room was shabby and I received a hair in my meal in their dining room and was not offered a new meal..yuck! I wrote to the management about our disappointing stay and they never responded. With so many lovely new choices to stay on the North Shore we will not return to Superior Shores.

Warning
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/07
We have been here once before and really enjoyed our stay. We just got back from there yesterday and am not to happy about our trip. I would just like to remind people not to leave anything valuable in the rooms while you are out for the day. Housekeeping comes in and then things disappear. Management was not very helpful with this and did nothing about it other than said if it shows up we would be called!
