Family Owned??

The rooms were clean enough for the age of the place. It was quiet because it was downtown and further from the highway. It was also harder to find due to that fact. It was relatively cheap.
But when you read that a motel is family-owned, you expect a higher level of friendliness, helpfulness, and service than we experienced. The staff could not politely give good directions to the place when I was on the local bypass. It was nighttime in the mountains, I was tired from a long drive, and they first sent me in the wrong direction, then "the owner" got rude when I called back. Apparently if you're not local, you're not worth being polite to, even if you plan to pay them money? I just didn't like the attitude, the tone of voice, her lack of concern for my predicament, or the way she all but hung up on me.
In the morning I asked where I could get a hot breakfast nearby. The fellow at the desk was very friendly, but sent me to one place supposedly closest I couldn't find, and to two others that were closed (they don't even serve breakfast).
I would take my business elsewhere next time.
