Goldmine Lodge, Big Bear Lake

I paid $200 for one night at this "lodge". The room is so-so, but what really frosts me is every time I called they told me the room we were requesting had a fireplace -- it was definitely a selling point for them. Never once did they say there was a charge for firewood!!! $200 a night, and they want to nickel-and-dime me! Their response? "We would have told you had you asked." Well, I didn't ask if there was a charge to use the bathtub or the towels, because when you advertise a room with an amenity, that amenity should be included. We could have brought our own firewood from home had we known. In addition, this is a one-bedroom "suite" with a separate living room, but the heater is only in the living room and there are no vents in the bedroom. If my husband and I close the door tonight to have some privacy from our kids, we'll freeze and our kids will overheat. Finally, when I checked in, they told me that if we used the plates and utensils in the "included" kitchen in the room, they were "our responsibility" -- in other words, we would need to wash them before we leave. I've never heard of such a thing! I guess I SHOULD probably ask if there is an extra charge for the bathtub and the towels, because now I'm not so sure!
