Catalina Island Seacrest Inn, Avalon

Our third time back, always loved the quaintness of this Victorian Inn. the new owners have really upgraded some of the areas. A new sundeck and rooftop lounging/eating area. We'll be back......

Our second time back, nice improvement over earlier visit. Still romantic though. They put in a new sundeck with BBQ and made a new rooftop breakfast room with TV. Everything is so close, diving is great.

this place is awesome! my husband and I stayed in the green room for our one year wedding anniversary. it was comfortable, beautiful, conveniently located.... I just adore that place! what immediately made me realize this was no ordinary hotel, was when the owner met me at the edge of clarissa as soon as I got off the ferry. He looked at me and said my name. My jaw dropped. He was walking another familiar face of the inn, Harley. He's a wonderfully sweet dog! and considering I read about him before hand, I made sure to bring a baggy of dog treats. it's family owned and has a few quirks about it that most places don't have. the good thing about it, is that the faces quickly become familiar and will easily become the people you can go to for questions and concerns. the downside was that they weren't always available. the owner hangs out as long as he can. and the nights he stays there are late, chances are, the nights after he'll be leaving early. so, come 8 PM when we wanted to rent a movie and chill out in the green room, the owner was not around to rent us a movie. so that was a little inconvenient. but all in all... it's an awesome place. the kind of place that after a long day gallivanting the wonders of the island, walking into the green room pulls out a smile and a breath of satisfaction and bliss. i would say, though, it's not for people who want to be catered to hand and foot and expect everything to be at hand when ever they want it to. it's for creative and open-minded people. so that when you walk to the front desk and no one is there, you're not about to have a fit. instead, you come up with a plan B and always always ALWAYS have a blast. and leave a story in the room's diary... that book is such a joy to read! my husband and i wrote an exceptionally long entry :P

This place is a TOTAL rip off. Do not be fooled by the photographs on the internet. I walked into our room - the Captains Quarters (but soon to be renamed the Captains Eighths) and nearly fell over the bed which is about 18" away from the door. The place is tiny, with a bed that squeaks terribly - not always in a good way - every time you turn over it makes a heck of a racket. Not that you will be sleeping anyway - what with the carts rolling past outside all night and the ancient fridge humming away. Oh, the appliances! I dropped over $650 for two nights - the owners could have taken half that and maybe bought a TV built within the last couple of decades, an iron that was not "modern" in the Eisenhower years - and maybe something to play tapes? I wouldn't even suggest buying a CD player - way too modern for these guys obviously! I got the impression that the owners were simply in it to rip off vacationers and that was confirmed when they charged me an additional $25 for removing candle wax from around the tub. Rubbish - I had spent 1 minutes cleaning it up (of course, we provided the candles because they certainly didn't!). In conclusion - utter rip-off - do not stay here. BTW Catalina is lovely!

My wife and I walked into the Seacrest after abandoning our first hotel on the island. The owners was very attentive and nice and our room had an elegance that was very island like to it. If you want someplace flashy and 5-star you're on the wrong island. If you want a place where the owner warns you that his dog may be lounging at the top of the stairs or on the sundeck napping this is your place. Out room was small but very well maintained, the whirlpool tub/shower combo looked out of place but worked fine and everything was clean and well kept. The office had a decent movie collection for a B&B and the staff was great, they made recommendations and reservations for us and kept the laid back atmosphere. My wife and I both felt very safe and comfortable. It is a cozy place on the island to come back to after a day on the water or a night out for dinner and dancing. Not really a take the kids type of place I don't think... Breakfast was on the skimpy side with fruit and bagels and didn't start till 8am. Prices were a bit high but seemed comparable to other places I looked on the island for what we got.

Do not stay here! This place is WAY overpriced for the poor quality accommodations that exist at this "inn". I classify this place as a tourist trap. We checked in and checked out the same day we saw our room and sought accommodations elsewhere, in a nicer hotel for one third of the rate Seacrest charged. The internet web page portrays the inn as a cute bed and breakfast "romantic getaway", and that is simply not true. -The room was extremely small. -No view, bad location. -Tile floors with no rugs or carpet. -No heat (in the winter with tile floors this is a bad combination.) -No shower curtain, with a clogged misfiring showerhead that sprayed more water on the cold tile floor than on us. -Dingy, small bath towels. -Peeling wallpaper. -Worn, aged furniture. Also, beware of the reservation policy. I have never had a hotel charge my card for the full amount of the stay, 3 weeks prior to arriving at the hotel. Save the hassle, ignore all the ads, and do not even bother calling. There are MUCH nicer accommodations for less money available on the island.

Avoid this inn. The room we had was old, worn, and tiny. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls. Certainly not worth the rates they charge! It seemed that this room was an after-thought converted basement! The floor was all tile, and there was no heat in the room, spare a portable radiator you had to plug in. It was COLD! The shower / whirlpool tub did not have a shower curtain, so the clogged crusty showerhead could spray water all over the floor, rather than onto the person. The whirlpool tub was old and scummy. There was no view, the access to the room was down an alley-way, and all of the windows in the room were frosted, making it feel even more like a basement, not like you would want to look outside anyway. The photos on the website are misleading. Also, beware of the reservation policy! The owner faxes a copy of the contract for you to sign, and then charges you for the entire amount of your stay the day you make your reservation. We checked in and checked out the same day and found much nicer accommodations elsewhere on the island for half the price. Save yourself the headache, and stay somewhere else.

I got a wedding package Catalina Island Weddings Rev. Michele but didn't stay at the hotel. The person doing the wedding was late. She didn't do as she said she would. When I called the hotel the staff/ manager was rude and nasty. They didn't care and they wouldn't help me. So beware!!!!

I would not recommend this Inn to anyone. The service by the host/owner was substandard to say the least. The host/owner was rude, unprofessional and treated us like subservient individuals. The room appeared to have an odor and did not appear to be all that clean. It was however close to shops and restaurants, but its Catalina so isn’t everything?

I was happy to be able to visit this Inn. I was there on my honeymoon and went back on my 10th Anniversary. I was able to stay in the same room I did on my Honeymoon in 1991. Thank you Seacrest!
