Amethyst Beach Motel, Point Pleasant

Having come to the shore for years I have stayed in many places that I would prefer to forget. The Amethyst Beach Motel is a place that I will always remember for future vacations. The staff was friendly and helped us any way that they could. The rooms were newly renovated and very clean. Not only was our room well kept but the grounds were imaculate. The motel offered a breakfast and barbeque area that made our trip more affordable. The location could not be better. Blocks from the beach and close to some great new restaurants that have opened up in town. Onsite parking was a plus as well. We had a really nice stay and can't wait to come back and use the pool!

I read the reviews after booking a room however Amethyst web site and Management made it clear that they had renovated all rooms and the way management responded to my enquiries cleared up any misconception about why the negative reviews occurred. I was prepared to take a loss if our stay was as unpleasant as reviews suggested however I am pleased to report the review were obviously malicious as everything and the management was terrific. The rooms have all been renovated recently. We had a fridge, microwave. Bathrooms are very nice and in the morning they served coffee and a light continental breakfast. We're used to 4 & 5-star hotels with cleanliness and customer care. For a motel, the Amethyst is terrific. The rooms couldn't have been nicer or cleaner and the couple of staff members I met couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The pool looks nice and there's a nice patio for people-watching. THE LOCATION! The quaint town of Point Pleasant Beach is within walking distance one way, and the ocean, boardwalk, arcade, Aquarium the other way (a HUGE plus if you have kids! My kids were in heaven). We were given a second floor room like I'd requested online and "the best room!": we were given a room with a direct view towards the ocean and the beautiful sunrises. PLUS everything is within easy driving distance, all roads South, North, West...& every store and restaurant chain you could want (plus a movie theater) is an easy 15 minutes away. We had loads of fun. Parking is very convenient it does cost a $10 fee; ours was waived but I think the charge is definitely worth it because of the prime location. Amethyst and its management took every possible opportunity to make our stay comfortable. I recommend it highly and encourage anyone considering a stay at the shore to place Amethyst at the top of your list of places to stay.

This place had blood stains on the sheets and the workers are so rude!. If you are looking for a nice place go next door to the Pelican Point.. We had a great time there after Amethyst screwed everything up for us

These people ruined our family vacation. To start off we booked two rooms for $199 each and then once we checked in the front desk lady told us that with all the "add-ons" parking, breakfast and some taxes I've never heard of every room ended up costing us almost $350 each. That's almost double!. Spoke with the manager in the morning a very nasty lady that claimed that we were told about the extra charges up front. The hotel is so old. The best credit goes to the photographer that took the pictures on their brochure because honestly it's small, dirty and totally outdated. We checked out and went to another motel (next door). We had a great experience and heard from many travelers that had done the same. Close the place down!

I'm not sure why all the negative reviews about this place. My Family and I had a great time last weekend. The place is pretty clean and the service is good. We were just a short walk to the beach. I'm sure some angry competitor wrote all those other reviews because after visiting this place I can testify that they are not true. Will visit again!

Booked here last minute as we were attending a memorial in the area. Had 2 rooms, and very dissappointed. Vey basic rooms and old, in need of a renovation. Sheets in my daughters room dirty, we asked for clean and changd ourselves. Only 1/4 roll toilet paper in our bathroom. Pool was half full with stagnant water and garbage floating, not that it was swimming pool weather. Continental breakfast coffee, doughnut and expired orange juice from Feb.(this was April). The worst was the peep holes in the walls of my daughters room, we asked for another room, but told none available. I know the place was not full. I agree with the previous review that they may be recording your stay. Very creepy. Strange that on Trip Advisor which I usually find very accurate reviews there are numerous excellent reviews for this place. I am sure those reviews are fake. I have complained to TA. We checked out after a sleepless night and found a lovely place on the ocean, minutes away in Spring Lake, NJ for only $40 more than this place. We paid over $100 US a night at the Amethyst, but really feel not worth it. We love the Jersey shore area and would love to go back, but not to the Amethyst

Before you decide to stay here keep in mind this place uses audio and video to record your visit!!! CREEPY....I think so!!! Imagine finding yourself on utube after your stay!

I want to get the record straight here. I have never been so offended in my life and treated like absolute dirt like I was at this "motel". My friends and I stayed here for a wedding in the off season and blocked out rooms specifically for this event. They charged us an outrageous amount of money for a room that was unacceptable in terms of upkeep (dirty carpets, stained sheets-including blood stains-broken lamps, etc.) I registered the room under two people and realized that it was an absurd amount of money to pay for two people so we had two friends stay with us not realizing that it was policy to register every single person in the room. One of our friends had a "conversation" with the manager that was working in the evening and the manager called the police telling them that this gentleman was "harassing" him. The police came 3 times to this establishment because the manager was completely out of line and decided that our small gathering was a wild party filled with chaos. Everyone was in their rooms to the point of a "lockdown" and were not allowed to come out otherwise the cops would arrest them. TO COME OUT OF THEIR ROOMS THEY WOULD BE ARRESTED. Our friends were kicked out of the room and had to look for somewhere to stay at 1:30 a.m. for no reason at all. A few moments later, friends that were registered in the hotel came over to talk and the manager proceeded to call our room and threaten to kick us out because he saw two people come into our room. THEY WERE REGISTERED GUESTS OF THE HOTEL. The manager once again calls the police for no reason and at this point I pack my bags and get ready to drive home. I requested a refund for the unbelievable amount of aggravation that he has put us through and at first he said come back in the morning, then proceeded to say that there are no refunds. I decided to stay because I was afraid that the police would arrest me for no reason, but I would like to say that my friends and I did NOTHING wrong, and were continued to be harassed by the manager and the police. We simply came to see our friends get married and we were treated like children. THIS EXPERIENCE RUINED OUR EVENING AND I WOULD SUGGEST YOUR LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A PLACE TO STAY. YOU MAY BE ARRESTED OR KICKED OUT OF YOUR ROOM FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I AM APPALLED AND SHOCKED THAT SOMEONE CAN RUN AN ESTABLISHMENT SUCH AS THIS AND TREAT THEIR GUESTS LIKE ABSOLUTE DIRT.

We were a wedding party that was first off was completely over charged for the rooms that were filthy. We were rented the location knowing this was a wedding party with everyone in their mid to late 20's. The manager was completely rude when we returned after the wedding to the motel. The group was sitting around the side where we were told we were allowed to be but soon after we were told to go in our rooms. The manager proceeded to use fail degrading language towards everyone staying there. He continually kicked out couples and called the cops 3 times that night leading to one being arrested for trespassing when we was a registered guest. The motel smelled of mold and was absolutely disgusting. I have never been treated so horribly in my entire life and taken advantage of. I also feel completely betrayed by the police in that area when taking the side of this man who talked and treated us in this way. This man had ruined everyone from wedding our whole night when it should have been wonderful joyous occasion. I will never return there ever again even if I was paid to stay.
