Unqualified recommendation

Not being independently wealthy, I look for a place that is clean and quiet with a staff that is not rude. The Wharf Master's Inn not only met my requirements, it set a new standard for me. The room was excellent. Not only was it sparkling clean but it was relatively spacious. The bed was a 4 post poster bed, with half a dozen decorative pillows. (Definitely unexpected but a great way to make you feel comfortable.) If you can afford it, get a room with an ocean view. It was great to just sit on the patio, smell the ocean, listen to the waves and watch the surfers. You can do that because you can walk to the beach from the Inn. Most of the hotels in the area do not have beach access meaning they are pretty far away from the ocean. Here, where the parking lot ends, the ocean begins.
The staff was incredible. I expect friendliness from the front desk people but I was surprised that the maintenance staff, the grounds crew and the maids were just as friendly. Everywhere I went, the employees said hi and made me feel like I was the only person there, even though I knew the place was full.
Honoring full disclosure, I must tell you about parking. There is plenty of parking but because the Inn is built on the side of a hill, the majority of the parking is on the road going up to the Inn. There are only a few spots in front of the check in office. If you have a problem walking up and down the hill, this could present a problem.
Lastly, the bathroom sink area was lit up by 3 decorative lights. The main light was out. My wife actually liked this because she thought that there would be too much light if all three were lit. Also, there was a small problem with the TV sound. I informed the staff and they said they were working on fixing it but they were unable to fix it before I checked out. It was a small problem because we could still hear the TV, just not as loudly as we would have sometimes liked.
Overall, it was a great experience and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.
