This Place Has Gone Way Down Hill
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/11
We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and sad to say that over the space of new owners 3 times in the past years this place has deteriorated beyond belief. Staff and owners cannot speak English and are extremely rude, they used to have a gentleman by the name of Mark who worked there for years and he was the only decent thing about this place. He went out of his way to make your stay as pleasant as possible but on our last trip we hear they fired him when new owners took over bringing on another person who hardly speaks any English and equally rude as them . This was the worst mistake they could have made as he was the only polite and helpful staff member in the place. The place is dirty, smells and hand printed signs are all over the place including the front desk...(not kidding) saying if you stain the sheets or towels they will charge you extra. We just had one of the worst stays ever here and will NEVER ever be back as one of the restaurants nearby told us that they have called the police on several guests that argued about paying extra for marking their towels!!!! This place needs to have new management that speak English and strip the place completely to clean it out of mold and awful odors throughout. Spend a little extra and go elsewhere as they don't care at all for their customers, are extremely rude and cut the breakfast muffins into quarters so that you don't take too much. It's pretty sad what has become of this once comfortable and welcoming hotel. If I could give it no stars I would.

OK

It is definitely the "value" option in the area. Overall, it was a pretty average place.

clean and reasonable price
By Charlie, 4/20/11
It was the night after Thanksgiving. We were driving around to find a room in Marysville area, but the room rate was so high. Best Western and Quality Inn were over $150, and they even asked us to make $200 room deposit other than room charge. Then, we found Village Inn, and we got a room for $84, and $30 for the room deposit which is reasonable. Of course, we didn't expect 5 star quality, but the room was clean and no ordor, and their continental breakfast was OK.

Wasn't bad until mis-communication with staff
By jo mama, 9/28/10
I stayed here while in town for my best friend's wedding (I'm from out of town). Her reception was at the Marysville Opera House, literally one block from this hotel, so it was a natural choice for us and most of her wedding guests. I had read the reviews online before ever stepping foot into this hotel. I was prepared for the worst - the hotel room we got wasn't as gross as most folks had reviewed about. We were in a non-smoking room, and there were no funny smells or stains or anything. I mean, you get what you pay for! This is NO five star hotel! I personally brought my own sheets, blankets, and pillows just in case! The night of the wedding was crazy, and we ended up cleaning up the opera house until after 1am, so my fiance' talked to the nice, tall, grey-haired gentelman at the front desk that night and begged for a later check-out (check-out is normally at 11am, we asked for an extra hour - noon). He said sure, and even wrote down our room number, an explination about our late check-out, and his approval initials. Well 11am rolled around, and my son and fiance' had just taken a shower. We hear a knock at the door - long story short - the RUDEST housekeeper I have EVER encountered insisted that we HAD to be out of that room right then and there, and tried coming into our room and propping the door open with a chair our belongings were sitting on, just so we'd hurry out. We weren't even dressed, and she invaded our privacy BIG TIME. At that point, I hadn't even gotten to take a shower, my son was crying because of the mean loud lady, and we had to rush all our belongings down to the car to avoid extra charges. My fiance' calmly (language barrier) tried to explain to the morning front desk guy and the housekeepers what had happened with the nice guy that night, and they talked over him, wouldn't let him finish sentances, and basically forced us out. My head is still spinning! The reason this was such a big deal is because we were traveling form out of town, and had a LONG trip ahead of us after this incident. We weren't able to properly load our vehicle, things might have gotten left behind, my son was SUPER upset, and I wasn't able to clean up myself before our trip home. We filled most of their hotel with wedding guests that night...you'd think that they'd appreciate how much money we all spent there and treat us a little bit better. I will NEVER stay here again, and will continue my quest to post this negative review accross the WHOLE internet! I can't even express how much this screwed up our trip, and travel plans going back home. IF YOU ARE PLANNING A WEDDING IN THE AREA, DO YOURSELF AND YOUR WEDDING GUESTS A FAVOR AND DON'T STAY HERE!

be careful of extra room charges!
By everett, 9/10/10
overall the room was clean and things were fine. Then on checkout they accused us of stealing a towel and charged us extra for using a washcloth for removing my makeup from my face. and for another towel we used to wipe up some coffee spill. they said they had to hand wash them. Do they not use Bleach?

We'll be back
By William, 2/21/07
My husband and I have stayed at the Village Inn twice now and have enjoyed both visits. We were there four nights this time. The rates were very reasonable, the continental breakfast had a huge variety, and our rooms were clean and comfortable. The office staff was friendly and helpful. I've recommended the Village Inn to other family and friends and they have enjoyed their stays.

Change of owners! Great Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/07
I was quite skeptical of staying here after reading some of the reviews. I learned that they changed owners and since then, they have done a complete change- giving great service and clean rooms. I am glad we stayed here and would reccommend Village Motor Inn to anyone who needs a clean place to stay.

Good hotel for reasonable people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/06
I stayed at Village Motor Inn, In Marysville Wa. on a weekend night, last room available-hot tub suite- they gave me a discount and the room was well maintained. I felt I received more than the quality I paid for. Of course I wasn't expecting to be treated like royalty. I felt I needed to write this review because I read a negative review by a customer that seemed to me to be unreasonable in his attitude. No things were not perfect but seems to me he was looking for a discount and thought he would get by a unreasonable complaint. I do not work for this hotel nor do I know anyone who works there.
