Great Place
By Joe, 8/2/08
We stayed in an RV spot and was very satisfied. We were there when the man and his fiance were there. Management DID NOT allow 50 kids to camp on his spot. He just wanted a quiet spot because he just got engaged and could play his guitar. He even went up to the store and got a marker from the staff so he could make some kind of poster. He left marks all over the table he was at. He went up to the motel in the morning and started yelling as soon as he got in the lobby. I know because I was in the lobby using the wifi. There are two sides to every story and if a person is going to gripe he should at least tell the whole story and the truth. The campground was very good. It is rustic but so is the forest. The people in the store were very friendly and helpful. They were workampers and enjoye what they were doing. The roads are not paved and the sites do not have concrete pads. So what!!!!! What do you want for $25. There is also a lot of trees. Most of the sites are very shady. We would stay there again for sure. It was GREAT.

The flood
MY daughter took a shower in the morning and also flushed the toilet. The Toilet overflowed and not for her quick reaction to turning off the water supply it would have been a disaster. i then used the sink which refused to drain. When we informed the staff at checkout, it was suggested to us that had we informed them the previous night the problem would have been fixed. Alas we had no problem before we went to sleep. I gather that this is an ongoing problem. The microwave unit was only 10 inches off the floor along side the refrigator. It order to use the unit you had to get on your hands and knees. The thermostat in the bathroom anteroom was not working. they said they were looking for parts to repair it but it was so old they were as yet not able to locate any. The arm of the early rustic chair kept popping off. The only end table lamp had a light but the neck was broken leaving a strange pattern of light to read by. Supposedly a new Krupts Coffee maker seemed to have a problem working. It never did work. Unfortunately the staff couldnt or wouldnt make any amends. an offer to get a cup of coffee on the house would have seemed appropriate since they had a restaurant located next to the motel. Our reservation conversation and check in greetings were so nice that it completely disarmed us as to what was to follow. Obviously we are unable to recommend this facility.

Nice motel/cafe outside BCNP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/05
Nice surprise 6 miles west of Bryce Canyon NP. The cafe started as a gas station in the 30's and expanded to a cafe. They added the motel in the 50's. Same family since the beginning. Combination of motel rooms and cabins. We asked for a cabin and got room 132 which is the last one and has the greatest view of the mountains. The whole place is operated by the owners, their kids and relatives. A wonderful alternative to the chain and mega places like Ruby's. Very quiet, cafe is good and convenient (famous for their pies!). You'll like it!

What a sweet place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/05
Although it seemed as though the place had not been refurnished since the seventies, it was a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with fabulous service. I found the staff including the owner Ethel very friendly and willing to help with anything. And the restaurant was great. i have never had anything like the pie that I ate for dessert. Great place

What a DUMP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/9/05
The owner couldn't care less about offering a clean, contemporary, comfortable room. Ours was filthy with a broken 30 year old TV, zero decorating, not a single picture, yard sale mismatched furniture with broken drawers, several extension cords from the single outlet draped on the wall for power, slanting bathroom floor, broken ceiling register ... pure junk at $85 a night!!! Upon complaining about the room's quality the the OWNER, she threatened to "call the law". Don't waste your time with this dump. Many other real motels to choose from in the area includind a few chains.

I cant recommend this place to anyone.
By James, 9/28/04
At had a horrible incident at the Bryce Canyon Pines Motel and I cant recommend this place to anyone.

I run a local motorcycle riding group and reserved 10 rooms for a recent trip to Bryce Canyon. I reserved all 10 rooms with a credit card over 2 months prior to the trip. I made the reservations with Ethel the owner of the Bryce Canyon Pines Motel. Each member called and reserved one of the 10 rooms that I originally committed to. I called back 3 times between the original reservation and the actual stay. I verified that each person in the group had a reservation. Each time I called I either spoke with Ethel or May.

After a 420 mile ride on a motorcycle, we arrived at the Bryce Canyon Pines Motel only to learn that they lost my reservation. Cursed with the last name of Smith, it is understandable that another Smith was occupying my room. What I found unacceptable was that Ethyl could not offer a solution to the problem. Considering the fact that I organized this trip and chose to give our 2000 dollars worth of business to the Bryce Canyon Pines Motel, I expected Ethel to offer some type of retribution for the situation. The only thing she could offer is for me to wait until 9:30 PM when she would release the remaining reserved rooms from another party.

The situation got worse as our group got to their rooms. One member was given a key to a room that was already occupied while another found his room to be inadequate with dirty carpet, an antique TV with no remote, a broken ceiling vent and slanting floors. As we met for dinner we discovered that the pricing of these rooms seemed to be random with each member paying a different price for different quality accommodations. Several of us that felt as though we were getting gypped, along with me, who still didn’t have a room returned to Ethel to complain. She said, and I quote “If you don’t like it you can just leave” “and if you don’t simmer down I am calling the law”. Being 420 miles away from home and having no place else to go we just had to grin and bear it.

I was outraged by the lack of customer service and for the inhumane treatment by the owner of the establishment. The only recourse I have is to never stay at the Bryce Canyon Pines Motel again.
