Great Location With An Elegant Atmosphere!

I visited South Beach at the beginning of June with friends and found the hotel to be marvelous for our travel wants and needs. We loved our room--multiple flat screen televisions, clean and comfortable furniture, beautiful design--and loved that the hotel was a very close to the beach as well the nightlife. The restaurant (BLT Steak) was excellent and I highly recommend eating there, even if you do not stay at the Betsy. Other than the amenities, the service at the hotel was top notch. Whenever we had questions or problems, the staff was there to address them. They were unlike the staff of the other hotels in that they obviously--or seemingly--were pleased to be working for the establishment. Everyone from the bartender to the doorman greeted us with warm smiles and friendly attitudes. I highly recommend staying at the Betsy and families are welcome, too... probably one of the only family friendly places on the Ocean Drive strip.

First off, the renovation of the hotel came out beautiful. All I can say is that the service along with the Decor is 5 star. The guys at the desk especially go out of their way to make me feel like im a true VIP. Well done. The BLT staff at breakfast was awesome. I wish I could eat at blt everyday. I can't wait to return only cons: rooms are a little small, but I was told that it is an historic property so i can't argue there. Also The roof top wasn't down... i wish it was, I would have liked to had some fun upstairs. One of the bellmen also told me they are building an exclusive underground night club...

Excellent!

This historic landmark hotel is located at the very end of the boardwalk, simultaneously providing easy access to the beach as well as an elegant, intimate oasis to the lively Miami scene. I was not surprised to find that the hotel is also a home for a BLT restaurant. Both reflect the same principles to their guests -- quality ingredients, effortless service and the desire to make each guest feel like they are on their own customized adventure -- be it culinary or travel. The hotel staff is friendly, quietly attentive and extraordinarily intuitive to every guest need. I was ridiculously pampered from the moment my car door was opened by the valet. It is clear that the staff is very proud to be a part of this remarkable hotel -- an attitude which is refreshing and quite infectious. Highly recommend.

Wait until after Guest rooms are remodeled

I checked into the Besty Ross Hotel after a 3 day cruise-( Aug 9th 2006) the main lobby is absolutely beautiful- but wait until they complete the work on the guest rooms. I checked out after 3 hours of attempting to stay in such sordid accommodations. I lost payment for one night but I couldnt stay there another moment. The carpet was disgusting with white stains on it (hmm wonder what that could have been) red stains on the walls (which looked like blood) and they had a bug problem- there were gnats flying around everywhere. The manager was very gracious and showed me another room to consider- but it was equal - he was very appologetic and very nice- but I explained there was no way I could relax in that room- and I checked out. They plan on remodeling in September - so anyone who can see clearly out of their glasses and cares what they see- I suggest waiting to visit this hotel until that work has been completed. But I must say- the staff there is wonderful.

Our Experience

The Besty Ross was a very nice hotel most of the people were friendly. There was a gentleman that was rude to us but other than that it was a great experience. I didn't like that we made a slight noise the first night that we were excited and instead of giving us a warning they wanted to quickly kick us out of the hotel without a refund or nothing. We had to practically beg them to stay somewhere that we paid over $1000 for our 5 night stay. They should be giving us a warning first not just serve us papers to leave. Very unprofessional.

Great location, great staff

We had a wonderful time. Location is perfect. Close enough to the activities to walk but far enough away to get some sleep afterwards. Staff was great. Rooms were nice but we weren't in there very much. Nice spot on south beach.

Fantastic in all ways

I loved the unique design of the hotel. The rooms were very well kept and will soon be remodeled as the lobby has been. The service was excellent and the continental breakfast along with the New York Times in the morning right after my beach run was heaven. I had a chance to check out the local gym called Crunch. The hotel had $12 passes to the gym, unfortunately I got the last one and was only able to go once during my stay. The gym wanted to charge me $21 for a day pass which I refused.

Rooms are not the ones in pictures!

The hotel has posted pictures of newly remodeled beautiful rooms on Travelocity...well guess what? The picture is of one of their 4 Grand Suites (Read- most expensive room) and to make it even better? The regular, pool view, ocean view, (all room types EXCEPT the grand suite)are old, dated and look completely different from the picture, everything from the carpet, to the bed to the bedding to the furniture and lighting-it is all completely different and very old. The rooms are actually green and orange floral decor. Awful. If you don't want the 'bait and switch' don't reserve here! Stay at the Hotel Nash instead.

Fun, Fun, Fun

Easy walk to all! The beach is right across the street. Every restaurant is in walking distance.Starbucks is even across the street.Everbody was very nice, friendly and helpful.

Wonderful experience

The hotel reopened November 25 2005 and these guys mean HOSPITALITY. The staff was great, helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations, club passes and directions. Breakfast is included in the rate which is BIG plus, the rooms are a great value for Ocean Drive, not great decor, but very clean and welcoming. We're definitely booking here next time we're coming to South Beach.
