used to be better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/09
i'm from petion ville,i travel to HAITI once a year, only for carnival,my last 4 trip were at the KINAM,i know what KINAM meant before, now it's like the owner doesn't care..the AC is not working well, mostly hot even the so called AC is on..the drinking water is not pure and safe, not even a free coffee in the morning, all these are worlwide hotel basic standard ..i felt safe, security guard arround 24/7...don't get me wrong, the employes are great,nice..but definitely, management has a lot to improve...bathroom,beds,A/C UNIT,tv system ,none of them aren't updated,it's just better than nothing..Unfortunately for my upcoming trip,i think i better try something much better..

It was an ok experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/09
The location is great and the staff was also great. I hated the fact that breakfast and even coffee was not included in the $132 I paid for the night. The service can definately be better, but staff was helpful. The room needs some updates -bed and tv need to be replaced. Above all it was a good experience -parking was definately a plus

Very Decent for Haiti
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
The bathrooms did not smell very fresh but they looked clean, the comforter on the bed smelled very bad we had to take the comforter off the bed and put it in the closet so we slept on only the white sheet. I told one of the gentlemen at the bar that we needed more ice and he told me to go check the thermos in the room like he didn't believe me(I knew we did not have any ice because it had melted and/or been used by us since we checked in earlier that day). So I had to go downstairs to the room, get the thermos and bring it to the bar to get more ice.The roll-away/extra beds are very uncomfortable and unstable. When you lay on them you feel like they will close up or fall apart. I asked for another they told me they would check to see if they had one no one ever came to the room or called the room to say if yes or no they found another roll away bed to replace the bad one-so it was slept on with minor rolling around that night to avoid any falls or other incidents. The stray cats (and their meowing)are a little annoying. The security, maids parking and front desk personnel were good.

Kinam
By Izzy B, 5/31/07
It was my first trip to haiti and it was a exceptional stay at the kinam. the hotel staff was amazing and they do go out of your way to cater for your every need. while i was there the french cusine was amazing a bit pricey but well worth the money. i heard many stories about secuirty issues within the affluent neighborhood of petionville. but i have to say i felt safe at the hotel at all times and i also felt safe driving around petionville. i have heard about more luxury resorts within the town limits but by for there are no signicfcant diffrences between kiman and more pricey options in Haiti. Haiti is well worth the travel and kinam is th best place to stay at every time i retun to port au prince i will be glad to call that places home.

Always reliable
By B, 8/6/04
I have been to Kinam Hotel four times. I have been to Haiti six times. The first time I stayed at my relatives in Thomasin. The second time I stayed at Village Carolina. Those were great experiences but nothing compared to Kinam. The service there is above average. The staff aims to please. They have let me use their personal cell phones when the hotel lines were busy. They've gone to the store for me if the kitchen was closed. They are like family. I've gone there alone just to get away for a couple of days and I wasn't at all lonely. It may not have the luxurious feel of the other hotels but it's quite homey... and that's what I look for when I'm away from home.
