HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
By Case, 05/26/07
This hotel was a mess from check-in. We were on the ground floor on a school field trip. The first problem we had was that every single window in every single room was UNLOCKED....we didn't really see this as a problem to begin with....however....this hotel uses key cards, but the cards didn't work so well....for ANY of the rooms. Each room had 4 cards and for the majority of the rooms, only 1, MAYBE 2 cards worked for the rooms. At one point, none of the cards worked for one room so we went to the front desk for help. The "master" key wouldn't work either. The owners/employees said they'd just go outside and come through the window.....WELL....this is when we found out there was a reason ALL the windows were unlocked. Apparently, they leave the windows unlocked so that when the key cards don't work (which is apparently pretty often), you're still able to get into the room by climbing into the window from the parking lot.... Here's the problem with that....there's a lot of freaks out there who can also get in while you're sleeping! The employees actually asked our kids to go back and unlock every window in every room so that if this happened again, they could get in from outside. That didn't go over very well with the teachers on the trip. Anyway, back to the card not working...the only way to get into the room was with this big metal rod they had to slide under the door and "hook" the door handle from the inside....*think having your keys locked in your car, but with a really big rod trying to hook the inside handle*.... that took about an hour before our girls could get in the room.... then the girls in that room were relocated to another room because they couldn't get ANY card to unlock the door. When I went to check the girls' lock in the new room, I found the window in this room, as well, to be unlocked. When I went to lock the window, the locking device (heavy metal piece) fell out of the window and the top glass window fell down and sliced my hand! After inspecting the lock, we found that it had been CUT with something and rigged just to hold the window up....again, I suppose this is so that they can break in from the outside when the key cards don't work. After inspecting, we found the locks to be cut in several of our rooms and just placed in order to keep the window from falling. I HAVE NEVER EVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! When I complained (again) about the window being broken, and this time slicing my hand, the office worker picked up the lock and said, "There's no problem with this lock." I responded by saying, "Really? Then why is the lock for our window LAYING ON THE FRONT DESK!?!?!?!?!" The service was just horrible. Not once, during our stay, did we even receive an apology for the whole mess. AMAZING....
