Awful, unsafe and very dirty.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/07
Terrible service, rooms are very dirty, sheet are dirty with stains, restrooms are fealty with broken windows and rooms do not have any air condition, it seems like they have never made a renovation in decades. I urge you if you have any kids please do not stay at Pacific Sands Motel at 1515 Ocean Blvd, Santa Monica CA 90401, it is very unsafe and dirty.

CHEAP AND CONVENIENT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/07
WE SPENT 3 DAYS THE WEEKEND AFTER THE 4TH OF JULY. OTHER MOTELS IN THE AREA WANTED AT MINIMUM $100 MORE/NIGHT. OF COURSE NOISY..RIGHT ON THE BEACH BUT QUIET AFTER 3AM. NO TUB BUT ADEQUATE SHOWER. ROOM SMELLED OF BLEACH THE FIRST HOUR BUT AFTER AIRING WAS FINE. NO A/C BUT FANS AVAILABLE AND SEA BREEZE FELT FINE. ONLY COMPLAINT WAS INADEQUATE DOOR LOCK..ONLY AN IN-KNOB LOCK. NEEDS GOOD DEAD BOLT. NOT A RESORT BUT, COME ON, IT'S LITERALLY RIGHT ON THE BEACH AND RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE SANTA MONICA PIER. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND I PAID FOR A CONVENIENT PLACE TO SLEEP NOT SPA AMENITIES.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/07
The place is very dirty i cant believe the health department allows them to do business. Not only is it gross but they will try to keep your money and services is bad.I would rather sleep in my car then waste $188.00 for a dump.

FLOP-HOUSE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/07
This place is definately not as nice as the photo! The employees were rude, they took some of the premier parking, and the rooms are patched and dreary. The beds are not helpful for good sleeping if your back is bad. The pillows are taken from airplanes, tiny. They sell parking spaces for beach users, so those who pay for a place to spend the night...take a taxi! The rooms look like something you would see in a homeless shelter, but not as nice. PLAN AHEAD AND CHOOSE ANY OTHER HOTEL IN THE AREA, DON'T BE TAKEN IN BY LOW PRICE RATES, THEY WILL NOT BE AS CHEAP AS THEY ADVERTISE.

DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/07
We made reservations here in Sept. 06 for the beginning of Oct. After reading some of the reviews we decided to immediately cancel our reservations. On Dec. 14 06 the hotel charged our credit card $256. Our reservations were for Oct. The manager is rude. I have been told unless I have a cancellation number they will not refund my money. Who keeps a cancellation number for 3 months after the initial reservation? If they would have charged me in October I would have had the number. Also, under the Better Business Bureau this hotel understandably has an F. I wonder when they are going to decide to charge my card again. I had to cancel it. Dont Stay Here.

nice location. walking distance to beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/07
The best thing I liked about this hotel was the location. It was right across the Santa Monica Pier. Walking distance. The one thing I did not like About this place was the bathroom it was to small actually the bathroom stall was. Other than that it was great!!!

What the heck? Nasty.
After reading all of the other reviews I totally agree with all of them. If I can find at least one good thing about it is that if you need a fan they have standard box fans at the front desk and they don't even charge for the use of them. All you have to do is ask. One disheartening thing that I heard from a local is that during the winter months the hotel is used as temporary housing for vagrants and the homeless. As thoughtful and uncharacteristically nice it is of the hotel to do that they should, at the very least, clean the rooms after that season is over! Floors very dirty! Don't walk around the room without some shoes or flipflops on. Had I known that there was a Holiday Inn just a half a block away before I booked at PS, believe me, I would have gladly paid the $100 more for it.

No refund after we looked at room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/06
We checked in for $135 a night and when we saw how dirty and smelly it was, we tried to get refund. Would not do it, so we endured the night only to find bed bugs in the morning. This place needs to be shut down!

Mite bites from neck to toe!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/06
My husband and I stayed at the Pacific Sands Motel and were subsequently covered from neck to toe with mite bites. We were in such bad shape that we needed the medical attention of a dermatologist. Mite bites are no laughing matter; mites are really difficult to get rid of once you have them. The rooms are filthy and smell as if they have been bombed with insecticides (they seem to know about the problem!), but even that can't hide the smell of just plain old dirt. Other guests were yelling in the middle of the night. The so called heated pool was full of dirt floating all over the surface of the water. The managment is not helpful and friendly, certainly not customer oriented. When asked about the sign in front of the building which states that the place will be torn down soon, the boss made inappropriate jokes about tearing the place down and building something new when he finally gets his money released from the Hisbollahs in Lebanon. Folks, this is just a hideous place, don't go, even if it is the cheapest place around the area. Investing a few dollars more is in this case a must and wise decision.
