Continental Surf Hotel, Honolulu

JUST ANY FYI THAT IF YOU ARE BOOKED AT THIS HOTEL THERE ARE SIGNS IN THE WINDOWS SAYING IT ISN'T OPEN. MY DAUGHTER IS BOOKED IN THIS HOTEL JUST ARRIVED IN OAHU AT 11:20 P.M. LOCAL TIME AND THERE HOTEL IS NOT OPEN. NOT IMPRESSED WITH EXPEDIA WHO IT IS BOOKED THROUGH OR THE HOTEL!

The only good thing about this hotel is the location, it's exactly where it should be to make your life easy. Having said that, there are several reason why it's cheap, to the point that maybe you want to invest a little bit more to make your Hawaii vacation better: - We reserved a queen bed on a non-somking room, they first gave us two twin beds. It was until we saw the room and complained that they switched us. It looked like they were testing us to see if we were going to complain or just have it their way and give us the worst room available. When we complained, suddenly, the room we wanted was available. - Carpet and curtains look dirty. The hotel looks ugly. - Cleaning ladies would just make the bed, but would not clean the room (bathroom sink, night stand, etc.) - The complimentary coffee (which is standard in every hotel/motel I stayed) is only free for the first day, then they charge you. - Sheet that covers the mattress was too small for a queen bed (top and bottom of mattress was uncovered). - The staff is not necessarily unfriendly, but they look like they hate their jobs. If they can ignore you, they will. If you ask a question they will answer with an attitude that "I'm not a tour guide" - This hotel is advertised as a 3-star hotel, but it is more like a 1-star hotel. It's the best example of: "you get what you pay"

I had a good stay here and the price was great. there was a fire alarm arounf midnight one night when the laundry room had smoke and we had to wait outside for an hour but otherwise everything was quite good. They did not give me a problem when my key disappeared from the door by the maids, they were friendly, and gave me a new key no charge. Can't complain about this place at all, aloha spirit was tops.

I stayed for a week and was happy with the service. Special thanks goes to the staff, Ms Adele who was willing to help out with a few tricky problems during my stay there, really appreciate her help. The room is small but clean and comfortable. The location is terrific, walking distance to Wakiki beach and shopping malls.

This place had a terrific location. Close to shopping, restaurants and the beach. If you are on a budget vacation this hotel is perfectly suited. The price is cheap. And it has easy access to public bus system that you can use to visit pearl harbor, diamond head, zoo, museums and more. The staff is friendly enough. The bad is the rooms are small, the carpet is worn, bathrooms can feel run down. So if your willing to dial down your expectations you can get a good value for your money.

Do not stay at this horrible hotel. It was by far the worst ever! Filthy carpets. even my pillow was stained. Shower came out in a trickle. Internet did not work. Parking was ridiculously priced. Closet was not a closet at all, but a tiny cutout in a wall by the front door, with a rod that was around a foot long, with no door on it. One of the front desk staff was extremely unfriendly and could care less. The A/C was so noisy. All in all, you can find a nicer place elsewhere. Don't let this place ruin your vacation in paradise. You can do better.

elevators were dirty. and didn't give a scent of security to the hotel. the front door was broken to our room. the staff was rude. a/c was broken. i wouldn't stay here again.

There are better things to do in Hawaii. But if you expect to use "included" internet, you are out of luck. Besides, the "hotel" will unpleasantly surprise you with stupidity of some of their staff (check carefully how much they charge your credit card upon check-in), extremely tiny and filthy rooms, and so on. Don't expect them to change your bed-sheets unless you specifically request it (even if you stay for more than 10 days). The location is good, however.

I specifically requested a 'Non-smoking' room, and when I arrived I was told, "we can only guarantee a room, not smoking/non-smoking. If you have any concerns, please call the booking agent."

Great location is all I can say. The rooms were extremely tiny and very poorly furnished. Bedding was clean but the rugs looked like you might catch a disease if you walked barefoot on them. There is parking on site which was upped from $15-18 once we got there. It's ok if you are on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep. If you have a bigger budget consider one of the nicer hotels.
