Crown Reef Resort, Myrtle Beach

Well, I should start by saying that this was our first trip to Myrtle Beach. I had never heard of what I now know as "Bike Week," but we arrived in the midst of it all. We came for a relaxing family vacation with our three children to experience the best Myrtle Beach has to offer. Now, I do blame myself for not having researched a bit more about the timing of our trip, but I still feel the hotel could have warned us when we booked a large room and stated we would be bringing children. We contemplated leaving, but thought we should attempt to stick it out. Our room was dispicable! The decorations were dated, the carpeting was torn and worn, the wall paper was falling off, the couch was ripped in several places, and you could not stand on the balcony because you would get high from the eminating smell of MARIJUANA that was coming from all of the rooms around us. Yes, I said marijuana. And if that wasn't bad enough the people even smoked their weed at the pool. The security guards were no where to be found, probably scared to say anything...but that wasn't even as bad as the strip teases that took place on the balcony. Now, many of you will ask if I complained, and yes I did. But, at the Crown Reef the going rate for all of this misery only amounts to a $40 discount off of your bill and four breakfast tickets to the hot pink buffet room. I will say that in the end I did enjoy Myrtle Beach. But, any hotel that will tolerate the kinds of behaviors this one did, and not defend its patrons that are paying a substantial amount of money to stay there is completely wrong in my book. I will never return to this hotel, and strongly discourage others from doing the same!

The rooms are large, and comfortable. The price, in the winter, is good. Parking is a bit weird, but not bad. The higher up you can get, the better! Rooms are nice in that they all have kitchenettes and large windows! A good place when the crownds are gone!

I thought it was nice, but the price was a little too steep. It cost us 120.00 for only one night.

My husband and I stayed here, and we loved it.... The service was great, the room was clean, and the cost of the room was the best price in Myrtle Beach at the time of our arrival... We both would recommend this Resort to stay at... I, myself have stayed there several times in the past, and have never had a complaint.... I kid and call it the Barney Motel, because of the color of the lighting outside on the buildings... Our vacation was wonderful, and we will definately return in the near future.... A++++++

Initially, the check in procedures @ Crown Reef did not impress me - however, upon arrival in our room, I understood why the delays had occurred. The room was immaculate, so it was obvious they took a great deal of time cleaning rooms up after the previous guests departure. Our overall experience could not have been better! We enjoyed the separate sun-deck area away from the pools, because our kids are grown, and relaxation was key! The $2 breakfast was awesome & you get plenty of food, well prepared! The buffet breakfast in the other restaurant was not nearly as good, and was more expensive. The pools were clean, the lazy river was awesome, and it was nice to have a couple of security guards always walking around checking on things. If we needed a couple of extra towels - a maid was there within 5 minutes. The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job of cleaning our room each day, too. We've been going to MB for 12 years, and have stayed at various hotels in North MB and South MB. We much prefer South MB more, and in the future will definitely re-book & recommend Crown Reef, for a totally relaxing, enjoyable experience!

My wife, son, and myself stayed at the resort the first week in August 2005. After my wife read some of the other reviews written about the Crown Reef she was very hesitant about our stay. She is a clean freak, and 1 thing out of the ordinary (bugs, smells, stains, etc.) and I knew we would be out of there. We checked in with no problem, a little wait if you go right at 3:00pm, and when we entered our 10th floor room in the 3rd tower we were all pleasantly surprised. It was nice-It had a clean bathroom, a beautiful view from the balcony, and a number of pools and hot tubs to choose from. It was very crowded the week we went, but the service we received treated us like we were the only ones there. Security was present the whole time, maid service was great-Our whole experience was superb-I would go back tomorrow. We checked out with no time wasted-we checked out at 7am to get a jump on the traffic, and it took 10 seconds to clear us from the office resort.

The check in is a little awkward and hard to find on the opposite side of the street. The parking garage was nice and felt like my vehicle was safer than at other places we've stayed at Myrtle, but very small spaces and cornering if you drive an suv. No way two vehicles can pass each other. The pools are nice but seemed to need a little more frequent cleaning, the lazy river is great. The location works well for Myrtle Beach activities, beautiful at night. The room felt a little dated, the eff. was sufficent, appliances seemed old but worked fine. We booked a special package rate so for ocean front it was a good value. Would go back if the rate was right but not on our list of "must stay" at.

I am waiting to come back each year for our Tournament. My family had some dislikes about the rooms, but overall we will be booking our room there each year.

I love this place because,the beds are comfortible and it has everything you would want

I liked that they had alot of pools and hottubs but some of the pools were really cold or dirty! The Lazy River was always cold! The building wasnt that clean but it was acceptable and the service was okay. They should also make people be more quiet.
