NEVER STAY AGAIN!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/11
The room we stayed in had roaches and little black bugs climbing the walls. Staff acted like the bugs were no big deal because they were just "Palmetto Bugs", a bug is a bug to me. The hotel use to be nice but has really went down. We stayed there for the "indoor" pool but the windows were all out so basically it was still outdoors. We will NEVER stay there again.

Stay away if you want a nice vacation!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/11
This hotel is run by extremely rude employees AND management. The building and rooms are discus sting and smell very bad. I can't believe that we fell for their misleading advertisements! If you would like to enjoy your vacation or stay at the beach, DON"T go here! I can tell you that!

Tear it down and start over..Shep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/11
I will start with saying I do not mean to offend the homeless lady nor the three cats outside a certain tower at the Crown Dump Resort. Let me start with just saying to anybody who is considering staying at the the Crown Reef, don't do it! Do not believe what you read or see when it comes to this so called resort. The price of a room alone will have you feeling like you had just been a victim of a strong-arm robbery. The elevators, rooms and area in general is not only filthy but also has an horrible odor. There were days where housekeeping would not even show up to change sheets or pick up towels and remove garbage. While staying at the Crown Reef you have a certain fear of having your belongings removed while out of the room. The TV set was a 19" tube TV with a horrible picture. The balcony sliding glass door was almost impossible to see out of and watch leaning against the outside railing, especially if you are on the upper floors. The happiest day I had on this recent trip to Myrtle Beach was checking out of the Crown Reef Resort. I would not recommend anyone who I like or love to stay at this place, only enemies! I will be back in Myrtle Beach in February to run Marathon and I will be sure to close my eyes and hold my breath when passing the CLOWN Reef Resort.

Fantastic Place!
By carolyn, 8/12/11
After reading some of the reviews I was very skeptic about this place but since it was reccomended by a relative decided to give it a try anyway. The place was very clean, did not have that musty smell you sometimes get at the beach, and the service was great! There were a few problems with the elavator nearest our room but it never lasted for very long. We had a great view and even saw dolphins on our first morning there from our balcony! I was very satisfied with our room and service and will most definetly stay there again.

Wonderful
By Jerry, 8/12/11
Before we checked in we rode around checking for vacancys at other motels because of the reviews. Boy what a waste of time. I was really suprised by the courtesy that the employees greeted us with and the cleaness of the place. The we stayed on the 10th floor and had a wonderful view. The room was clean and well stocked. It suprised us that it had a full size refrigerator and a 12 cup coffee maker and lots of coffee. We had a really nice four days there. Be back next year. w

The most nasty hotel in the WORLD
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/8/11
the most nasty hotel in the world. All the hotel is about to broke a part, they presenting spam pictures online. we paid 200$ a night and got room for 35$ . just forget about going there - it's just old, dirty, water in pool was full of chimerical and unclear. Do not even try Crown Reef Resort Myrtle Beach

Awesome Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/11
I liked it's location, further away from the busy strip. I saw many bad reviews and was nervous, but this vacation turned out to be wonderful. The resort has suffered some abuse and apparently doesn't have a lot of money coming in for updates, but by far, for the cost, it was WELL WORTH IT. I kept the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door at all times and housekeeping DID NOT come in. :) The breakfast was very tasty and the pools were wonderful. It wasn't crowded so the fact that not all of the hot tubs were working wasn't a big deal at all. I would definitely stay there again and plan on it.

I do not advise anyone to stay here!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/31/11
My husband and I booked this hotel with the intentions of taking our first family trip with our 5 month old to the beach for our Memorial Day weekend. I found the hotel online, the website looked good, and the pools really drew me in. After booking, which usually I do this first, however, I didn't this time, I began looking at reviews for the hotel and saw that they were absolutely terrible. I usually give the benefit of the doubt, but the reviews were plain scary. I called the hotel to ask if we could cancel our reservation and they would not, so we were forced to either forfeit $189 or drive out there and take our chances. Upon arrival to Myrtle Beach we pulled up to our hotel (it was Bike Week, we later found out), and we knew we weren't going to be staying there. The check-in area was full of hand me down furniture that was mismatched and filthy. The floors were filthy, and it smelled. My husband asked to see the room before we checked in and we were told to go across the street to tower 2 and meet the security guard whom would escort us to our room and show it to us. As we walked across the street we noticed how filthy the hotel was, it was so run down. We walked into the security area and once again, filthy, run down, and hand me down, unmatched furniture. The security guard took us to the elevators and we stood for about 20 minutes waiting on an elevator to pick us up, seeing trash, dirt, sand, filth. Once we were in the elevator we went to the third floor and walked to our room. The guard could not get the door open to the room so he had to call down to get someone to come up to see why he couldnt get in. While standing there he told us "To be honest with you guys, I see that you have a baby, I would not stay here. It's bike week and I already smell weed in the hallways, there will be a bunch of crazy parties here, and this hotel is not fit for you guys." We told him thank you, and that we didn't need to see the room, that was enough. We left, went back to the front desk and received all of our money back except $25.00 for a cancellation fee. The front desk associate did not even ask why we chose not to stay, she just gave the money back. This place is GROSS, out of date, and honestly should be shut down. I do not advise anyone to stay here!

Great value!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/29/11
My husband and I stayed there a few days last week, and had no problems. The room was clean, no odor, and a nice size. I use a powerchair, so the bathroom was handicapped accessible, and was the first one in all of my travels that had a rol in shower, without the tub. The food at the Crown Cafe was good. Although I didn't swim, I did explore, and saw lots of people swimming and in the lazy river, and I didn't see any trash except one leaf floating in the lazy river. All of the workers that I had contact with were more than helpful, opening doors and such for me. My husband and I discussed that even though it was Spring Break, and very busy, you didn't have to wait for elevators, because there were 3 for each tower, and they were fast. We loved the place, and if we go back there again, we'll stay at the same place.

It is a shame this resort has went down hill, FAST
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/11
I visit MB atleast two to three times a year and only stay at this resort for the amenities. That will change for my next visit. I don't know if the resort is under new management or they just no longer care about the paying customer. I visited in September 24 -28 2010, tower 1. Room was dirty, could not see out the sliding door, folded up paper holding cabinets shut, something red all over the walls that was wipeable and the elevators were not working. I know this would have been enough for some but I bit my tongue and went to the amenities. Pools were not heated indoor nor did they have the indoor closed off from the outdoor pools. Only two hot tubs were working in the manner that they should have been. Others were not working at all or they were cold or they only had hot water with no bubbles. All amenities were dirty with all kinds of things floating within the pools and lazy river. To make matters worse, I brought guest and raved on prior before arriving to what a great place it was. I played it off as to in the past, I only had room issues. I have just returned from another visit to the resort, April 21-24 2011. I requested tower 2 or 3 and got a room in tower 2 (thanks). When arriving to the room with 5 people, no toilet paper, 4 towels only, no dish cloth, refrigerator was not clean, coffee maker was nasty, could not see out the sliding glass door BUT once again I blew it off and went to the amenities. I was disgusted!!! Same as in September!!! The pools were so cold that you could not enjoy yourself. I mean so cold that you couldn’t catch your breath. NO ONE was using the indoor pools and once again, NOT heated and open to the outdoor pools. When people would get in the outdoor pools, it didn’t take them long to get out. Needless to say the two hot tubs that were working stayed packed!! I will be finding another resort.
