Crown Reef Resort, Myrtle Beach

LAST YEAR I STAYED HERE & I GOT LOCKED OUT MY ROOM BC MY KEY WOULD NOT WORK FOR 4 HOURS I ASK SOME GUY WHO WORKED THERE FOR HELP HE TOLD ME HE WOULD COME BACK NEVER DID I WAS OUT UNTIL 4 IN THE MORNIG. ROOMS ARE DARK & OUT DATED.I WENT BACK FOR A 2ND TRY AND I LEFT EARLY THEY HAD BUGS EVERY WHERE IT WAS GROSS & THE FLOORS ARE NASTY & IT DID HAVE A SMELL BUT I GOT SPRAY. POOLS WERE SO DIRTY & THEY DIDNT EVEN HAVE POOLS HEATED WHEN U PAY FOR A HOTEL YOU EXPECT THE BEST & MOST THE HOT TUBS WAS DIRTY WITH NO WATER N YELLOW TAPE ALL OVER LOOKED BAD THE ROOM WE STAYED IN THIS TIME HAD THE BED AGAINST THE CLOSET COULDNT EVEN WALK TO THE CLOSET FRIDGERATER WAS TOTALLY GROSS LIKE IT HAVENT BEEN CLEANED IN YEARS I BAUGHT WIPES N WIPED IT N IT CAME OFF ALOT TABLES & WALLS STILL HAD FOOD STUCK ON IT ELEVATORS LOOKED WORN DOWN HAD HOLES IN IT & THE CARPET WAS GROSS ALSO THERE LOBBY LOOKED SO CLEANED BUT NOT THE ROOMS & THE 1ST TIME I HAD STAYED IN 2 ROOMS BC THE 1ST WAS DIRTY SO 3 ROOMS & ALL NASTY WAS HOPING MAYBE I JUST HAD BAD LUCK THE FIRST TIME BUT THE ROOMS WASNT VERY RELAXING & THIS TIME THE POOLS WASNT EITHER THINK THEY NEED TO PUT GLASS BACK IN THE INDOOR POOL & GET NEW CARPET & NEW BEDS & CURTIANS BEDS WERE STAYNED & SMELLED BAD

We stayed in Tower 2, room 622. It was very clean, and neat. Everything worked in our room. We placed the 'do not disturb' sign on our door. I had a laptop and other valuables with us. I just don't take chances. We were never disturbed BUT every day there was a bag hanging on our door with fresh towels, toilet paper, tissues, lotions, shampoos, coffee bags, and cups. I would just take the bag that the new things came in and put the dirty towels in it and set it outside in the morning. It was always taken. We even talked to the maid as we came out a few times and she was very nice! The only complaint I have are the beds. They are very lumpy and worn. My husband has a bad back so this was a problem for him, but he placed pillows around him and was alright. My parents were in Tower 1 on the 8th floor. Their room was also very clean and she had her rooms cleaned everyday to her satisfaction. Everything worked in her room also. We met several employees as we were in elevators or walking the halls. They all smiled, asked how we were enjoying our stay, could they make it any better. We had our 3 year old son with us, they would talk to him, joke with him. He loved the staff! If you want luxury and pampering, stay at the Dunes Village. If you want clean, family friendly, nice staff, good service, and AFFORDABLE (we are on a strict budget) then stay at the Crown Reef.

The room we stayed in had roaches and little black bugs climbing the walls. Staff acted like the bugs were no big deal because they were just "Palmetto Bugs", a bug is a bug to me. The hotel use to be nice but has really went down. We stayed there for the "indoor" pool but the windows were all out so basically it was still outdoors. We will NEVER stay there again.

This hotel is run by extremely rude employees AND management. The building and rooms are discus sting and smell very bad. I can't believe that we fell for their misleading advertisements! If you would like to enjoy your vacation or stay at the beach, DON"T go here! I can tell you that!

I will start with saying I do not mean to offend the homeless lady nor the three cats outside a certain tower at the Crown Dump Resort. Let me start with just saying to anybody who is considering staying at the the Crown Reef, don't do it! Do not believe what you read or see when it comes to this so called resort. The price of a room alone will have you feeling like you had just been a victim of a strong-arm robbery. The elevators, rooms and area in general is not only filthy but also has an horrible odor. There were days where housekeeping would not even show up to change sheets or pick up towels and remove garbage. While staying at the Crown Reef you have a certain fear of having your belongings removed while out of the room. The TV set was a 19" tube TV with a horrible picture. The balcony sliding glass door was almost impossible to see out of and watch leaning against the outside railing, especially if you are on the upper floors. The happiest day I had on this recent trip to Myrtle Beach was checking out of the Crown Reef Resort. I would not recommend anyone who I like or love to stay at this place, only enemies! I will be back in Myrtle Beach in February to run Marathon and I will be sure to close my eyes and hold my breath when passing the CLOWN Reef Resort.

After reading some of the reviews I was very skeptic about this place but since it was reccomended by a relative decided to give it a try anyway. The place was very clean,did not have that musty smell you sometimes get at the beach,and the service was great! There were a few problems with the elavator nearest our room but it never lasted for very long. We had a great view and even saw dolphins on our first morning there from our balcony! I was very satisfied with our room and service and will most definetly stay there again.

Before we checked in we rode around checking for vacancys at other motels because of the reviews. Boy what a waste of time. I was really suprised by the courtesy that the employees greeted us with and the cleaness of the place. The we stayed on the 10th floor and had a wonderful view. The room was clean and well stocked. It suprised us that it had a full size refrigerator and a 12 cup coffee maker and lots of coffee. We had a really nice four days there. Be back next year. w

This place is disgusting! Motel 6 is 10x better. This hotel was nothing like what was advertised online. From a distant it looks great, but the closer you get the worse it gets. As soon as we got off the elevator we knew it was going to be bad. The room was horrible and tiny. The beds were made with dirty and torn sheets. The toilet was stopped up and the jacuzzi tub which was right next to the toilet had hair in it. The room smelled old and musty. I immediately called to the front desk where initially they standoffish and offered nothing but to come clean it when they had a chance. After further discussion and a few choice words they finally gave me my money back and we left the "motel". Luckily we were able to find another suite a block down which was much nicer.

the most nasty hotel in the world. All the hotel is about to broke a part, they presenting spam pictures online. we paid 200$ a night and got room for 35$ . just forget about going there - it's just old, dirty, water in pool was full of chimerical and unclear. Do not even try Crown Reef Resort Myrtle Beach

On Friday, May 27th my family checked in to the Crown Reef. We were unhappy with several things upon arrival. We spoke with a manager that told us our first night was non refundable so I said we would stay that night and check out in the morning. She convinced me to give it a try and keep the reservation for the three nights. Unfortunately our experience was horrible. The pool area was run down, the hot tub was nasty. There were pools with tape across them and brown water. The room was dirty, the refrigerator was rusty and broken, the bathtub was so dirty I wouldn't bathe a dog in it. The bed was horrible including the linens which were the cheapest possible quality. The people on our floor slammed the doors all night long and the sound of motorcycles outside our window lasted throughout the night. (We asked if they had a lot of bikers in that area at check-in and were told no) Needless to say, we got zero sleep. This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. We are local and have lived here for 24 years. My husband and I both own businesses. The customer service I received when I tried to check out was terrible. The manager the evening before told me she would be there at 8am and if I had any problems she would refund our other two nights and take care of anything we needed. We checked out at 8:15 and were told the manager wasn't coming in until 9am. I was told that the girl working couldn't refund our next two nights, only the manager could. She assured me the manager would call me by 9am. I never received a call, and every time I tried to call was told the manager was not available. I am requesting a FULL refund for all three nights. I will be contacting DHEC, The Better Business Bureau and The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce if this refund is not issued immediately. As a business owner customer satisfaction should be your standard and I do not feel I should be charged for services that were substandard and not even used . As of June 16, 2011I have never even been contacted back after several letters and phone calls and never received a refund.
