Bad Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/09
The bath tub was cracked and mushy. The management offered to move us, (my wife and I), to another room. This room was dirty. There were mini bottles and thick dirt behind the sofa. The staff was very nice when I complained and took care of the problem. But the management seemed not to really care. The food is way over priced and lousey. We go to Vegas frequently but I would not go back the Silverton again. Las Vegas is a tricky place in that many of the hotels are "worn and tired".

This place makes you appreciate your home more
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/09
We go to Las Vegas to visit our daughter three or four times a year. When we stay at a hotel we usually enjoy it very much. Our grandchildren swim and we have a wonderful time. This was the second time that we stayed at the Silverton and the rooms have really gone downhill. There is usually only one clerk at check in so it takes a while. One night our keys didn't work so I had to go downstairs to the desk and get it reprogramed. This happened twice the next day. The fourth time I asked for new keys and that was fine until the next afternoon. This time the door opened about an inch and stopped. The safety latch on the top of the door had become caught and the door was locked. It took two trips downstairs before an engineer came to fix it. He cut the latch off and installed a new one. This took around forty five minutes. Everything worked fine after this until the next time we tried to get in the room. The latch caught again and we had to wait in the hallway for another worker to fix it. I asked for another room and the clerk gave me one. When we walked in with our suitcases my grandaughter noticed that the water was at the top of the stool. I flushed it to see what would happen and of course it overflowed. A maid outside mopped it up and they sent someone up to fix it. This happened again the next day. I told the manager that I should get some sort of rebate due to the trouble that I had but he told me that they didn't do that for natural occurances. The lights were too dim.--The air onditioner ran constantly.-- Bathroom supplies were not supplied when asked. Or the beds made. I don't blame the help for this. I blame the management. I will never stay at the place again and I would not recomend it to anyone. Although I will say The pool was great.

Fun place to visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/09
I've traveled to Vegas soooo many times and that now I feel like sometimes I need a vacation from The Strip. Silverton was perfect because it offered several dining options and the Pro Shop kept me and my girl busy. This was a fun, relaxing experience and The Strip was never too far away.

Great local spot for families
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/09
First we took the kids to watch the the mermaid show and the feeding show. We heard it was free and well, trying to save some money while keeping the kids entertained during the summer...you know how it goes. We were not expecting such a huge aquarium. We thought it was going to be one those that you see at the doctor's office and as for the mermaids we thought it was going to be some casino employees walking around in customes handing out flyers or something. Wow! This thing is huge! There was enough space for the crowd that gathers. You don't feel squished in and the kids still got an incredible view of the fish. The mermaids are so much fun, swimming around waving to the crowd from inside the aqaurium. The kids had so much fun and we got some great pictures.

All around reasonable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/09
The service in the cafe was excellent as was the food and the prices. We are non-smokers and did not find smoke odors in the cafe or rooms. The rooms were also clean and excellently priced as well as designated as non-smoking. Parking was easy and plentiful. All facilities are fairly new. It is 5 or so miles south of the strip but we found that not a problem and even a relief.

AKA Ptomaine Palace
By ChrisC, 03/29/09
Ate dinner at the road kill cafe (Grill) and became violently ill w/i 1 hour...nice way to spend an evening! Silverton has no gift shop, so there was no way to help myself (Pepto Bismol)...as a matter of fact the apathetic desk clerk advised us to go to the TA truck stop across the road....a real classy joint. Never again!!!!! Oh, and the service is horrendous...not at all busy yet had to wait eons for the bacteria-ridden hog slap.

Made a good base for our trip
By Richard, 08/11/08
We were a party of 7 including a 5.5 year old and stayed at the Singleton between trips to Grand Canyon and the West Coast -- one weekend was more expensive but otherwise a great deal, the pool was a very ncie thing during the heat wave (115 degrees) and it was very easy to get in and out. The only inconvenience relative to the child was that one time we were told he could not use the little bowling alley (little things with pins on cords) because it was too close to the gambling areas -- this made no sense. Otherwise the rooms were clean, the staff helpful, and the parking plentiful

Normally a wonderful hotel
By DeeAnne S, 07/02/08
I travel to Vegas often for business. I have stayed at the Silverton many times since it has opened. Generally it is a great hotel. The rooms are large and nice, the hotel is well maintained, and the rates are always good. It is close enough to the strip to be convenient and far enough away to not spend your day stuck in traffic. Normally service is also exceptional. This last visit I have to say I left pretty disappointed with it. I stayed there for a week. The service was poor, slow, and grouchy throughout the hotel the entire time I was there. In one incident in particular the service in the Mermaid lounge was so slow that for over a half hour there were absolutely no staff at all in the bar. When they did show up the waitress had a terrible attitude and would not even let anyone finish a sentence before she walked away. The orders were all messed up very badly. For example instead of the drink I ordered to go with my food, I got fish and chips (and so had two entrees and nothing to drink) and it took a long time to get the waitress back and the problem resolved. It was not just my opinion that the service was bad either. At one point most everyone there was complaining and one couple who asked that the hotel manager be called waited for over an hour and the manager still never showed up. It is a shame that such a wonderful hotel had such awful service and I hope it was just a isolated incident. I am sure that I will stay there again at some point but if the service is that bad again, I will take my business elsewhere.
