Edgewater Lodge, Long Key

the place was a complete dump and the only maid service was 4 clean towels daily...We even had to take out our own garbage...The floors were so dirty we laid down our used bath towels on the floore after we showered otherwise our feet would be filthy by the time we reached our lumpy bed.We paid in advance so we were stuck there all week. We will never stay there again...Sure the sunsets were fab..they are great anywhere in the keys..just find an open space and face west....But dont stay here!!!!!!!

I booked an efficiency for my husband and I here based on reviews on the web. I have never written a review myself, but after reading the positive reviews here and booking a room based on that, I felt I HAD to warn others. I have no idea who WROTE the other reviews but the place is awful. The efficiency we stayed in was tiny and run down. There were 2 double beds, but we could only use one because one was horribly lumpy. The bathroom was incredibly tiny - the door had maybe one inch of clearance from the toilet seat! The shower was a tiny stall that dribbled boiling hot water at all times. Tiles were missing in the bathroom, there was mildew, the sink drain was broken and our toilet broke the very first day (though they did fix it). The a/c is so loud that forget about normal conversation if you are running it. Housekeeping is a joke - the ONLY thing that was done was leaving towels, there was NO cleaning or even straightening up. The front office was always empty - if you needed someone you had to call on a phone they have out at the office then stand and wait for someone to show up. I have been to the Keys many times and there are many places that have equal, if not better, locations directly on the water with their own dock that have NICE, not rundown, clean rooms and excellent service. My advice - do NOT book a room here, you will only be disappointed.

We stayed for a week (the week after Thanksgiving 2007) and did not want to leave. It was our honeymoon and we had a great time just staying at the hotel fishing, snorkling, swimming and sunning. Very clean, quiet and cozy rooms with deck on the water right out sliding glass door. Great place to see the underwater wildlife. We caught lots of fish, saw a moray eel, octopus, turtles, stingrays, even a couple of sharks (at nite). Staff was friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back!!

Customer service is wonderfull. The staff was outstanding, and the rooms were very cozy and clean. We just felt very relaxed and every need was met. The sun sets were remarkable.

Good location for boaters--new docks are nice. BBQ grills. Bait and ice for sale and fuel at nearby marina is convenient. Bayside by Long Key bridge.

I have mixed feelings on writing this review because we LOVE this place and we can't wait to go back and we want to be able to get a room!! What an awesome view. If you stay in an efficiency which cost us 119 a night(1/08), you open your sliding glass door and are standing on a deck over the gulf. The rooms are clean and so are the grounds. We fished off the piers and I caught a small barracuda and am not a great fisherwoman. Every night we had a stingray that would come and swim along our deck and we saw a manatee about 10 ft from the pier. There was lots of marine life and crystal clear waters. BBQ grills are clean, cute tiki huts with tables along the small beach area. Snorkeling is great with easy access to the gulf. Their website has older pics on it. The room we stayed in was updated. We took some pics of the view and the room if you are interested, I can email them to you. Location is about 15 miles from Marathon, 15 miles from Islamarada and a little over an hour to key west.
