I love a room with paint pealing off the walls, a door that won't lock, and a spider bite that left a better impression than the intellegent factor of the staff. Of the good things about the two rooms we rented - we did have one coffee pot that worked, and the parking lot was smoothly sealed. If it weren't for the proximity to Cedar Point (which is rather good) this place would be hard pressed to get $35 a night. If you get a chance to stay there - don't !

Very clean and comfortable, the bed was perfect! Fair rates compared to others in the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included a larger than average choice of food and everything was fresh and tasty. The hotel is located within easy access to many stores and attractions. The rooms were large and spacious. The Outdoor was great and clean. This hotel is near to Cedar Amusement Park, Kelly’s Island. The location was great. I highly recommend Howard Johnson Express Inn Sandusky.

Went here over 14 years ago and the place was a dump then! To read the current reviews is hilarious! Some things never change. If you want look back on your trip and have a good laugh, book the HoJo !!! Walking distance to the Jolly Donut is a bonus!

To start with the rooms are very small, and moment I walked in the room I had bad feeling. It had a dirty feeling about it and you could tell it hadn't had a good cleaning in a while. As I looked around I noticed some kind of flying bugs, maybe some kind of nat, not too sure. Everything changed when I went into the restroom, I opened the cupboard under the sink, I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a white hand towel covered with BLACK MOLD, No I'm not kidding. I just could not believe they would rent a room to a family with a room with Black mold, if anyone doesn't know this is extremely bad to breathe in. We immediately went to the office and demanded our money back and went to a different hotel. I definitely would not recommend this place unless you were from the Health Department.

This place was SO dirty & nasty, it didn't look like it was cleaned in years! The curtains, bed spread & even the lamps were filthy with stains. Not to mention the beds are not worth laying on because they are SO uncomfortable! There were 3 windows and I could not see out of 2 of them b/c they were SO dirty. There was hair stuck in the hair dryer and the microwave looked as if it had never been cleaned. When I called the customer service line to complain she told me if I had been in the room less than 30 min I could get a refund but it had been 40 minutes since I checked in, I asked for a supervisor and was told I could NOT speak to one. After getting a bit upset she asked my name and placed me on hold FOREVER! Do NOT waste your time, or money here pay a little extra and stay at a clean hotel! You might save yourself some stress from the "Customer Service" too!

Upon arrival after long day driving at 11PM. Room was not completely cleaned, one roll of toliet paper, no tissues and there was trash still in bathroom containers. Dirty old sock in corner near door, and both bed blankets were stained with very large dirty, dark stains. Hotel did offered lower rate and offer new blankets so that we could remake the beds ourselves. Was definitely a big disappointment. Did not stay the additional day at this location and will not return.
