We will not stay here again.

We took a recent golf trip to the area and this was our first time staying at the Country Inn of Two Harbors. That Friday evening after dinner (about 7:30 P.M.), we wanted to use the indoor pool and hot tub. When we asked the desk for pool towels, we were told that a birthday party was going on and that the kids had splashed so much water, they had blown a breaker and there were now no lights (only auxiliary lighting) in the pool area. When we went into see if we could use the pool, there were 15-17 kids, ages 3-12, that had taken over the pool and hot tub area. We waited for quite awhile to see if the party would end, but finally gave up. When checking out, we asked the desk person if all those children were staying at the hotel, and were told "No - the manager had booked a private birthday party so they had paid to use the pool." We informed her that as paying guests, we had also paid to use the pool area and didn't feel it was right to let this happen, especially on a Friday evening when weekend visitors are in town. The second issue was that upon checking in, there were not enough bath towels in our room. Most good hotels allow 2/person. When we asked for a second set, we were told that this is not their policy because people steal them. We assured the desk that we would not do that, and then were given extra towels. They were poor quality and scratchy, so we aren't sure who would even want them, but certainly felt privileged to get the extra set! We did not bring this up again, but at the time of checkout, the person at the desk told us she would "mention" our concern about the pool to the manager. I would be interested in knowing if that happened. We won't be returning to this hotel in the future.
