Not worth $110 night after taxes!
By ,
The beds were cheap and uncomfortable. The pool was very small. The TV was really outdated and small. At least the room appeared clean though. Continental breakfast consisted of french toast (reheat in toaster) , toast, bagels, donuts, apple and orange juice. Some milk would have been nice. They really need to do some updating to charge these prices.

Great Potential, but a Big Disappointment
By ,
From the outside the hotel looks like just about any other, a bit outdated, but nice. The rooms were the same way, outdated, but fine for an motel type of stay. The staff at check in seemed nice enough if a bit disinterested, but soon that changed. We went out for dinner after we checked in. (Do NOT go to the Blackwoods restaurant either!) When we returned there were kids everywhere. Apparently the owner was hosting a pool/birthday party for a family member. On a Friday night, seriously? Not only were the kids all over, there were adults yelling at them, I mean literally yelling. The pool/party room are right at the front desk, so it was impossible to not be inconvenienced as we were dodging children just to walk up to the 2nd floor to our room (no elevator). The next morning after sleeping on less than comfortable beds (plenty of pillows though!) we came down for breakfast, which was better than expected, all basically continental style, but with a good variety. While sitting there sipping tea and chomping on my morning bagel I hear the hotel manager take a call right at the front desk from an employee that didn't show up to work. Taking that call in front of at least 10-15 guests was bad enough but as soon as she hung up the phone she started bad mouthing the employee to another employee for about 10 min. As their conversation progressed the other employee then dropped the F-bomb. I'm not a prude, but that is completely unprofessional and about sums up the management at this place. If the poor management isn't enough to dissuade you from staying here, let me tell you a few things about the room. The shower only had lukewarm water at the best of times, if it was the early morning rush, then forget it - cold! Not that I wanted to stand in the shower any longer than I had to since the water wouldn't drain properly and just kept filling the tub. Gross! Lastly, they had hunter green washcloths. Seems like a nice way to add a little color until you realize that the reason they stay green is because they do not bleach them. Personally I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. All in all the place has the potential to be good for the money, the pool area was nice, they give you a free round of mini golf (but it was covered with pine needles), and the rooms seem clean enough (avoid the bathroom though).

Management is a joke.
By ,
Our reason for staying over the weekend was for a wedding on a saturday afternoon at the Grand Superior Lodge. We pulled into this motel on Friday night to a freezing room, temp. outside was 35 degrees and the windows of our room were wide open. We closed them and turned on the heat. After falling asleep we woke up at 2:30 a.m. to a noxious smell of burnt rubber coming from our heater. (we believe this is the reason our windows were wide open when we arrived, rather than giving us a fully functioning room, they did not tell us about the heater and tried to cover it up by airing out the room.)We aired out the room, but as is normal (unfortunately in hotels) there was no manager on duty on saturday for us to voice our concern with. We stayed in the same room without using the heat on Sat. evening. as we checked out on Sunday, the front desk clerk ignored our concern, and said nothing about how to contact his manager except pointing us to her card, with the hotels phone number as the way to reach her. We called the manager to inform her of our poor experience and, Vicky, the manager, gave us the impression that it was our fault for not speaking up sooner. She also stated she lives 5 1/2 blocks from the motel and should have been informed...after the fact! Of course her pions aren't giving out that information when we are upset. She docked $20 off the room when we had asked for a $50 discount. As the room was over $100. Vicky Thompson is rude, inconsiderate, and needs education in customer service. I am very upset that we chose to stay here instead of any of the other beautiful resorts in the area. DON'T waste your money, go elsewhere!

We had a great vacation!
By ,
The breakfast was fabulous! We had a blast in the free mini golf! The staff was really friendly and helpful. The only not-so-great thing was the not-so-comfortable beds. But we'll be back!

WE WILL DEFINATELY RETURN
By ,
I stayed at the Country Inn this pass June with my husband and two small kids. Our stay was very satisfactory. Our room and bathroom was very clean, exceptional I must say; since the bathroom is the first thing I view when I enter a hotel room, my first impression was a pleasant one. Also, I actually felt that I could walk barefooted on the carpet, it too looked clean. The only thing that I did't like was that the microwave was very small (short in height), but it worked out fine. The staff was exceptionally nice also. We will definately return before the summer is over.
