Good hotel for the price.
By ifworkpermits, 3/27/09
I really liked where the hotel was located, also we checked in super late and the staff was VERY helpful. As for dislikes, our air didn't work and since we were facing the sun most of the time our room got very hot, and the charge to park your car is INSANE, $40 extra to park at a hotel I'm already paying to stay at (and the valet tried to steal a radio out of our car) But other than that I love this hotel and will stay there again.

wanted to check out the entire time....
By chaunceym, 1/27/09
I stayed here on 1/24/09. The hotel stunk like old food. The elevators were so sketchy, I felt like they were 100 yrs old. The furnishings are horrible. The room looked like it belonged in the 1060s. I heard every door close on my floor. I spent one night and they charged my for 2 nights of parking WTF!!! Needs to be blown up or rebuilt from the ground up. I wanted to check out the entire time. If you are in search of great affordable rooms check out "the standard." They have two locations in LA. One is on 6th and flower in downtown and the other is right on sunset in hollywood......I went there the next night!!!!

Great Trip
By Dee, 7/6/08
I loved the accomdations. We had car valet, parking was not very good. But, the $20.00 a day was well worth it. Lots of people milling around, so if you walked around after dark it felt safe. The place was very busy for 4th of july, but all the staff was very cordial, acommodating and courtesous.

DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!
By nancih, 6/27/08
I checked in with a group. First room was not only smoky, but there was a hole burned in the arm of the chair! The furnishings were old, the curtains ratty and stained. The front desk was very nice and did change my room to a non-smoking room which was slightly cleaner, but still badly worn. The cover to the very old, circa 1960's thermostat was gone, leaving exposed wires. The telephones did not work, so I guess you better pray there isn't an emergency! Ice machines all broken. Pool closes very early, at 9. Restaurants close early too and there wasn't anything around that felt safe to walk to. You can find much better lodging in other places. I really find it hard to believe this place is even allowed to be open. Unfortunately since I was with a conference, I did not have a choice but to stay. Could not wait to leave.

Worst hotel I stayed in in the USA
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/08
I stayed at the Wilshire Plaza for a few nights with friends and it was unbelievably bad. All the sheets on our beds were too short and stopped about a foot from the end of the bed leaving just bare mattress or scratchy blanket, my sheets also had holes in them. I mentioned it to the desk and got a blank look and no improvement the next night. The concierge desk didn't seem to have ever dealt with guests before, they had little to no knowledge of the area and we had to push to be given any information. Most questions were met with confused looks, I'm not sure if many people at the desk understood English well as I never got much of a response. We called for room service and were told that despite all advertisements and signs, they didn't have it that night. Also, this was a terrible place to stay as a tourist, it is nowhere near any of the tourist destinations listed on the website, it cost us $15-20 in a taxi to get to Hollywood, Melrose, or Sunset. If you value the time you have in LA, please avoid this place!

OVER CHARGED
I stayed there for 2 nights at a $99/per night rate. When I got the bill, they charged me $677.34 WOW !!! Watch out for that. I had my bank stop that and take it off my acct. They are currently researching it after I was told to call my bank after I tryed to solve it directly with the hotel.

Horrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/07
If you have an emergency and need to contact a guest, better be there in person because nobody answers the phone at this hotel. Telephones in the room do not have voicemail so you have to leave a message in the front desk. Come on! What era are we on? The valet parking is really rude as well. This hotel will leave a bitter taste in your mouth!
